It continues to be a huge problem. But we have essentially taken a big chunk out of what was once a market leader, and by their conduct, a major offender.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The investigation probed concerns that Juul reportedly advertised its vaping products to minors in a variety of methods, including launch parties, ads, social media, and product giveaways.\u00a0Juul also faces hundreds of lawsuits regarding teenagers who allege they became addicted to the company\u2019s vaping products.<\/p>\n<p>The settlement of $438.5 million will be paid over a six to 10-year period. At least $16 million will focus on vaping prevention efforts, according to Tong.<\/p>\n<p>Juul Labs released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.juullabs.com\/statement-by-juul-labs-on-multistate-settlement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> following the announcement noting its focus on combatting underage use of its products.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith today\u2019s announcement, we have settled with 37 states and Puerto Rico, and appreciate efforts by Attorneys General to deploy resources to combat underage use,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe remain focused on the future as we work to fulfill our mission to transition adult smokers away from cigarettes \u2013 the number one cause of preventable death \u2013 while combating underage use,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>The use of vaping products among teenagers surged following Juul\u2019s launch in 2015, with the Food and Drug Administration later declaring an underage vaping \u201cepidemic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Virginia Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares also released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oag.state.va.us\/media-center\/news-releases\/2448-september-6-2022-attorney-general-miyares-announces-438-5-million-agreement-with-juul\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> following the settlement\u2019s announcement that shared the Old Dominion will receive $16.61 million in the settlement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYouth vaping is an epidemic, and from the get-go JUUL has been a leader in the e-cigarette industry. But JUUL targeted young people with deceptive social media advertising campaigns and misled the public about the product\u2019s dangers,\u201d Miyares said. \u201cMy office will continue to go after and hold accountable companies that market addictive products like e-cigarettes to minors, with no concern for their health or well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In June, the FDA\u00a0officially\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kbtx.com\/2022\/06\/23\/fda-orders-all-juul-electronic-cigarettes-removed-us-market\/\">ordered<\/a> all Juul e-cigarettes to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-fda-officially-orders-all-juul-electronic-cigarettes-removed-from-the-u-s-market\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">removed<\/a> from U.S. sales.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s action is further progress on the F.D.A.\u2019s commitment to ensuring that all e-cigarette and electronic nicotine delivery system products currently being marketed to consumers meet our public health standards,\u201d Dr. Robert M. Califf, FDA commissioner,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/06\/23\/health\/fda-juul-ecigarettes-ban.html\">said<\/a> in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>As The Daily Wire previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-federal-court-places-hold-on-juul-ban\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C.
