Kathy Hochul (D)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2021\/S2758\">signed<\/a>\u00a0Senate Bill S2758, which effectively banned gas-powered vehicle sales by implementing a \u201czero-emission\u201d in-state sales goal of 100 percent by 2035.<\/p>\n<p>New York will likely institute an outright ban soon.<\/p>\n<p>Further, other states have so-called trigger laws that require them to adopt the same emission regulations as California\u2019s\u2014even if they disagree with the requirements.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/GettyImages-1412702344-1200x800-1.jpg\"><\/a> Gov. (Spencer Platt\/Getty Images) <\/p>\n<p>On Aug. 25, the California Air Resources Board voted to ban the sale of gas-powered cars entirely by 2035 \u2014 a move impacting seventeen states that follow California\u2019s emission regulations.<\/p>\n<p>New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Washington, Oregon, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Colorado, Minnesota, Nevada, Virginia, and New Mexico have all <a href=\"https:\/\/ww2.arb.ca.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-05\/%C2%A7177_states_05132022_NADA_sales_r2_ac.pdf\">chosen<\/a> to opt into California\u2019s standards instead of federal requirement.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, depending on the legalese of each state\u2019s regulations, if California implements a specific condition, then the state tied to California\u2019s standards must follow suit.<\/p>\n<p>For example, under then-Gov. Ralph Northam (D), Virginia tied itself to California\u2019s emission standards when it <a href=\"https:\/\/lis.virginia.gov\/cgi-bin\/legp604.exe?212+ful+CHAP0263+pdf\">passed<\/a> House Bill 1965, which directed Virginia\u2019s State Air Pollution Control Board to \u201cadopt and enforce\u201d Section 177 of the Clean Air Act.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Northam_25-1200x742-1.jpg\"><\/a> Virginia Gov.
