A phone call to the number listed for him on the Otero County website was not answered.<\/p>\n<p>The two other Otero County commissioners did not immediately respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics cheered the ruling, believed to be the first of its kind in over 150 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a historic win for accountability for the January 6th insurrection and the efforts to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power in the United States,\u201d Noah Bookbinder, president of the group, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Griffin was charged with disorderly conduct and entering a restricted area for his actions on Jan. 6, 2021.\u00a0U.S. District Court Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, acquitted Griffin of the first charge and convicted him on the second charge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/jan-6-defendant-couy-griffin-found-guilty-on-one-charge-acquitted-of-other_4354718.html\">following a bench trial<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>McFadden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/cowboys-for-trump-founder-sentenced-to-jail-for-entering-capitol-grounds-on-jan-6_4541848.html\">sentenced Griffin<\/a> to a suspended jail sentence, 60 days of community service, and one year of supervised release for the misdemeanor.<\/p>\n<div class=\"author_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"one_author_block round\">\n<div class=\"top_row\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/author-zachary-stieber\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Follow<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Zachary Stieber covers U.S. and world news.
