Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema and Biden.<\/p>\n<p>The reasons cited for Biden\u2019s supposedly impressive \u201ccomeback\u201d (which amounts to a roughly five point <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/epolls\/other\/president-biden-job-approval-7320.html#polls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">approval rating rise<\/a> in recent weeks, which now puts him in the low 40s on average), are the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CurtisHouck\/status\/1557087081293352965\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN-described<\/a> \u201cstring of wins\u201d he scored over the summer including the passing \u2013 and <a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/sister-toldjah\/2022\/08\/16\/joe-bidens-festival-of-fail-during-inflation-act-signing-ceremony-was-one-for-the-books-n613215\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">signing<\/a> \u2013 of the bogusly named \u201cInflation Reduction Act.\u201d Gas prices are also inching down, and the Supreme Court overturning <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> is being credited with a supposed \u201csurge\u201d in Democrat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/07\/24\/democrats-enthusiasm-midterms-roe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">enthusiasm<\/a> ahead of the fall midterm elections.<\/p>\n<p>Underneath it all, however, is the elephant in the room in the form of independent voters, who have been <a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/mike_miller\/2021\/12\/22\/biden-support-among-independent-voters-swan-dives-into-ratings-toilet-n495246\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abandoning Biden<\/a> in droves since the Afghanistan debacle and who haven\u2019t reversed course even in the midst of Biden\u2019s so-called summer \u201cvictories.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As further evidence, take a look at the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/today.yougov.com\/topics\/politics\/trackers\/president-biden-job-approval-rating?crossBreak=independent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouGov poll<\/a>, which shows Biden\u2019s support with the crucial independent voting bloc continuing to crater, hitting new lows down the home stretch:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">YouGov: Biden Approval Rating Among Independents Hits New Low<\/p>\n<p>Joe Biden: Independents<br \/>\nApprove 26.7%<br \/>\nDisapprove 64.1%<\/p>\n<p>1162 \u2013 2502 RV per wave \/ 08\/29<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/nOF0QutjtF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/t.co\/nOF0QutjtF<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/atE2Tj7nnM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pic.twitter.com\/atE2Tj7nnM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 InteractivePolls (@IAPolls2022) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IAPolls2022\/status\/1566550376358240257?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">September 4, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/IAPolls2022\/status\/1566550376358240257?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And to think this poll was taken *before* Biden\u2019s grotesque \u201cDark Brandon\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/bonchie\/2022\/09\/01\/joe-biden-crosses-lines-in-grotesque-national-address-heckler-spoils-his-party-n621397\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">speech<\/a> from last Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to that, in mid-August the GOP was already <a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/joesquire\/2022\/08\/21\/gop-advantage-ticking-upward-again-democrats-mid-august-bump-n615592\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bouncing back<\/a> after general polling numbers showed a <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/rebeccadowns\/2022\/08\/31\/one-week-after-media-gushes-over-poll-approval-ratings-biden-is-back-to-among-his-lowest-in-same-poll-n2612461\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">slight uptick<\/a> for Democrats including Biden.
