Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) said on CBS\u2019 \u201cFace the Nation\u201d on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Pence, who was presiding over the joint session of Congress to certify electoral votes on the day the Capitol was breached, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/pence-says-he-would-consider-testifying-before-jan-6-panel-if-asked_4673056.html\">said in mid-August<\/a> he would consider talking to the panel if asked. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), vice chair of the committee, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/mike-pence-in-talks-to-speak-to-jan-6-committee-liz-cheney_4677856.html\">said soon after<\/a> that the committee had been having discussions with Pence\u2019s lawyers. Shortly after that, though, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/pence-dials-back-willingness-to-testify-to-jan-6-house-committee_4678624.html\">Pence said<\/a> the panel was \u201cvery partisan\u201d and that if he received \u201ca formal invitation\u201d to testify, he would \u201creflect very carefully on my obligations to preserve the separation of powers and the constitutional framework that I served in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Many Republicans have criticized the panel because it is primarily composed of Democrats. The only Republicans are Cheney and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), both of whom are virulently against former President Donald Trump. The composition came about because House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) rejected several members proposed by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). McCarthy then pulled all of his proposals. Pelosi picked both Cheney and Kinzinger.<\/p>\n<p>The panel has spoken to hundreds of people, including Keith Kellogg, Pence\u2019s former national security adviser; Kayleigh McEnany, former White House press secretary; and Marc Short, Pence\u2019s former chief of staff.
