On Aug. 26, the government ordered Nvidia to stop selling microchips in China and Russia without authorization, which could cost the company up to $400 million, CNBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/08\/31\/nvidia-stock-falls-after-us-government-restricts-chip-sales-to-china.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> on Wednesday. The day after CNBC&#8217;s report, Nvidia&#8217;s stock price was down nearly 12 percent, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/livecoverage\/stock-market-news-today-09-01-2022\/card\/nvidia-stock-drops-among-s-p-500-s-biggest-losers-as-chip-shares-fall-CB3jORXXcEyE0hKMDsv7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according<\/a> to the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>By selling the shares before the news broke, the speaker and her husband saved around $600,000, according to multiple <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/unusual_whales\/status\/1565114073389625349\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/mobile.twitter.com\/PelosiTracker_\/status\/1565118501504761858\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accounts<\/a> that track the Pelosis&#8217; controversial stock trades.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Pelosi has a long history of making &#8220;timely&#8221; purchases in companies that his wife has worked to subsidize, the <i>Washington Free Beacon<\/i>\u00a0has <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/wolf-of-washington-pelosi-is-poised-to-score-big-from-semiconductor-bill\/\">reported<\/a>. He purchased the Nvidia stock in June as the speaker oversaw a bill that would grant billions of dollars in subsidies that could benefit the company.<\/p>\n<p>Internet stock traders often follow Nancy Pelosi&#8217;s purchases and selloffs for investing tips, <em>Business Insider<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/markets.businessinsider.com\/news\/stocks\/nancy-pelosi-stock-trades-meme-investing-litquidity-paul-pelosi-alphabet-2021-9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>, with some suggesting &#8220;she&#8217;s making the big bucks off of insider information.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A Nancy Pelosi spokesman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/politics\/paul-pelosi-dodged-extra-20-loss-selling-nvidia-stock-july-august-us-restrictions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a>\u00a0Fox Business that Paul Pelosi does not speak to his wife about his stock trades until after he makes the trades.<\/p>\n<p>While the speaker in February implied that she wouldn&#8217;t oppose a congressional stock-trading ban, she appears &#8220;content to let&#8221; a ban &#8220;die behind the scenes,&#8221; the <em>Daily Beast<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/democrats-quietly-try-to-jam-nancy-pelosi-on-stock-trading-ban\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The people who control the calendar don&#8217;t want to bring it to the floor,&#8221; Rep.
