Unlike many other ESG-focused firms and funds, Inspire has invested in firearms companies\u2014specifically, Sturm Ruger &#038; Company and Vista Outdoor.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/fearing-looming-bubble-state-treasurers-square-up-against-esgs-invisible-fist_4521280.html\">June article<\/a> in The Epoch Times, Netzly was still an ESG advocate. At the time, treasurers from many energy-producing states were intensifying an ongoing campaign against ESG using their control over state pensions and other public money.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe state pensions should not be forced to invest along any particular ESG guidelines, but should have the freedom to do so if they decide that is in the best interest of their constituents,\u201d Netzly said in that June interview.<\/p>\n<p>What changed?<\/p>\n<p>According to Netzly, as recently as a year ago, \u201cnobody had a clue\u201d what ESG meant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, everybody with a radio who\u2019s a conservative knows what it is and it\u2019s specifically evil, right? And it\u2019s earned its reputation,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe see that battle lines have been drawn\u2014not by us, but by the hard left\u2014which squarely position us at odds with the ESG world that has been overrun by the intolerant, extremist viewpoints of hostile liberal activists.
