If you want to trash-talk our candidates to help the Democrats, pipe down. That\u2019s not what leaders do. And Republicans need to be leaders that build up the team and do everything they can to get the entire team over the finish line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He never mentions McConnell\u2019s name, but it\u2019s clear from his writing that Scott is unhappy with the leader\u2019s recent negativity towards his own party. <\/p>\n<p>Scott\u2019s rebuke comes just a couple of weeks after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell downplayed Republicans\u2019 chances at winning back the upper chamber. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think there\u2019s probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate,\u201d McConnell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/mcconnell-makes-grim-prediction-republicans-senate-races-references-candidate-quality\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>. \u201cSenate races are just different, they\u2019re statewide. Candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Scott, this is just an excuse to keep \u201ctrash-talking Republican candidates and Republican voters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUltimately, though, when you complain and lament that we have \u2018bad candidates,\u2019 what you are really saying is that you have contempt for the voters who chose them,\u201d Scott wrote. \u201cNow we are at the heart of the matter.\u00a0 Much of Washington\u2019s chattering class disrespects and secretly (or not so secretly) loathes Republican voters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This DC hivemind, Scott said, wrongly believes that they should control the outcomes of elections instead of voters. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe D.C. crowd should not choose candidates, and they do not, and they will not,\u201d Scott wrote, noting that his election was strongly opposed by the Swamp,\u201d Scott wrote. <\/p>\n<p>According to Scott, it\u2019s far too early for \u201cthe Washington naysayers and their anonymous quotes\u201d to disqualify Republicans\u2019 chances. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will beat the Democrats, and we will take control of the Senate this fall. Write it down,\u201d Scott wrote. \u201c\u2026Yes, I\u2019m an optimist. And I\u2019m a cheerleader for our candidates. And I get a lot of crap for it from the D.C. crowd who tell me I shouldn\u2019t sound so bullish or I should do more to set expectations. I\u2019m not playing that game because each one of our candidates presents a stark contrast to the failed agenda of Biden and the Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first time Scott bypassed his colleagues in Republican leadership to speak up. <\/p>\n<p>While Mitch McConnell and other top GOP senators sat silent for more than 24 hours after news of the FBI\u2019s raid on former President Donald Trump broke, Scott was the first Republican in Senate leadership to call those actions\u00a0\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenRickScott\/status\/1556807645721501698?s=20&amp;t=yUXegPKHE_XB8Bbsl18EyA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">incredibly concerning<\/a>, especially given the Biden admin\u2019s history of going after parents &#038; other political opponents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is 3rd World country stuff. We need answers NOW.
