{"id":1629775,"date":"2022-09-01T14:02:40","date_gmt":"2022-09-01T18:02:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/?p=1629775"},"modified":"2022-09-01T14:03:00","modified_gmt":"2022-09-01T18:03:00","slug":"john-fetterman-thinks-only-rich-white-americans-know-how-to-acquire-voter-id","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/john-fetterman-thinks-only-rich-white-americans-know-how-to-acquire-voter-id\/","title":{"rendered":"John Fetterman Thinks Only Rich, White Americans Know How To Acquire Voter ID"},"content":{"rendered":"<aside class=\"mashsb-container mashsb-main mashsb-stretched\"><div class=\"mashsb-box\"><div class=\"mashsb-count mash-medium\" style=\"&quot;\"><div class=\"counts mashsbcount\">26<\/div><span class=\"mashsb-sharetext\">SHARES<\/span><\/div><div class=\"mashsb-buttons\"><a class=\"mashicon-facebook mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sharer.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.conservativenewsdaily.net%2Fbreaking-news%2Fjohn-fetterman-thinks-only-rich-white-americans-know-how-to-acquire-voter-id%2F\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Facebook<\/span><\/a><a class=\"mashicon-twitter mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?text=&amp;url=https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/?p=1629775&amp;via=ConservNewsDly\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Twitter<\/span><\/a><a class=\"mashicon-subscribe mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"#\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Subscribe<\/span><\/a><div class=\"onoffswitch2 mash-medium mashsb-noshadow\" style=\"display:none\"><\/div><\/div>\n            <\/div>\n                <div style=\"clear:both\"><\/div><\/aside>\n            <!-- Share buttons by mashshare.net - Version: 4.0.47--><p>Pennsylvania\u2019s Democrat candidate for U.S. Senate, John Fetterman, previously proclaimed that he is vehemently opposed to voter ID laws because he believes poor people and \u201cpeople of color\u201d are less likely to carry their ID than those who are rich and white.<\/p>\n<p>The moment came during a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/fetterman-opposes-voter-id-laws-because-people-color-less-likely-have-id\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">now-unearthed interview<\/a> from December 2021, in which Fetterman is documented discussing efforts in Pennsylvania to \u201cpass a constitutional amendment making sure that universal voting ID for every time you vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause [Republican state legislators] understand that at any given time, there\u2019s tens of thousands of Pennsylvanians who typically are on the poorer side and are people of color that are less likely to have their ID at any one given time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>On separate occasions, Fetterman has also openly referred to voter ID laws as \u201coutrageous,\u201d \u201cillogical,\u201d and \u201cunfair,\u201d with the Pennsylvania lieutenant governor even going as far as to compare them to <a href=\"https:\/\/grabien.com\/getmedia.php?id=1630147&amp;key=fffe9fe1565f9fe0aa5d5f2c35f53ceb&amp;userid=17087\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jim Crow laws<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><\/figure>\n<p>Fetterman\u2019s stereotypical remarks that only white and wealthy Americans know how to obtain voter ID are not only debunked by the fact that the vast majority of non-white Americans have some form of government ID but that the vast majority of Americans \u2014 of all races \u2014 support requiring American citizens to show ID to vote.<\/p>\n<p>A 2021 Rasmussen Reports survey on the issue <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/poll-75-percent-americans-support-voter-id\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found<\/a> that 75 percent of U.S. voters \u201cbelieve photo identification should be presented before voting,\u201d including 69 percent of black Americans. A separate 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/widespread-support-for-voter-id-and-making-early-voting-easier-national-poll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">poll<\/a> from Monmouth University also found wide bipartisan approval for requiring ID to vote, with \u201c91% of Republicans, 87% of independents and 62% of Democrats\u201d all supporting the policy.<\/p>\n<p>Despite his insinuation that financially poor and non-white Americans don\u2019t possess the wherewithal to acquire an ID to vote, Fetterman is hardly the only Democrat to push such a brazenly insulting narrative. Imaginary-Governor of Georgia Stacy Abrams, for instance, last year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/democrats-voter-id-stacey-abrams-raphael-warnock-biden-harris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">referred<\/a> to Georgia\u2019s recent elections bill, \u201cwhich included expanding voter ID laws,\u201d\u00a0as \u201cracist\u201d and \u201ca redux of Jim Crow in a suit and tie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden has also repeatedly pushed the lie that voter ID requirements oppress certain segments of the population, with the then-Vice President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/joe-biden-voter-id-laws-an-attempt-to-repress-minority-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">saying<\/a> in 2014 that such a policy is an \u201cattempt to repress minority voting masquerading as an attempt to end corruption.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Biden has also gone out of his way to villainize Republican efforts to enact election integrity reforms.
