Ron DeSantis (R) said on Tuesday at a press conference.<\/p>\n<p>The so-called Inflation Reduction Act will \u2014 ironically \u2014 make inflation worse, DeSantis said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s so many offensive things, and a lot of people aren\u2019t talking about it,\u201d he said, explaining that Democrats hope to kneecap \u201cour own production here\u201d as gas prices remain significantly higher than when former President Donald Trump was in office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then in this bill, they actually impose taxes on energy production on both oil and gas. And so how is that going to cause you to pay less when they\u2019re taxing it more? All those costs are going to be \u2014 those taxes are going to be passed on to all of you in the form of higher prices. and so that\u2019s going to happen, for sure,\u201d he said, calling it \u201cvery counterproductive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot only are they doing the taxes. \u2026 They\u2019re adding 87,000 IRS agents,\u201d he said, debunking the claims that they would just go after billionaires.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cFirst of all there\u2019s not that many billionaires to need 87,000. Second\u00a0of all, billionaires have accountants, they have lawyers and a lot of what billionaires do is they exploit the loopholes that Congress has put in the tax code over the years. That\u2019s just the truth,\u201d he said, refuting the left\u2019s myths.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was an amendment that was offered in the Senate when this bill was being debated that said you cannot use any of these IRS agents to go after anyone earning less than $400,000 a year. The Democrats voted that amendment down so it can go \u2014 it can go for anybody,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19618858\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/01\/Couple-worried-about-finances.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>(Mikhail Nilov\/Pexels)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWho are they going to go after? They\u2019re gonna go after the people that don\u2019t have the wherewithal to withstand these audits. People that have lawyers and accountants, they know how to do this, but they\u2019re gonna go after a sole proprietor. They\u2019re gonna go after some handyman. They\u2019re gonna go after somebody driving an Uber or somebody owning a family restaurant. That\u2019s who they\u2019re gonna go after, because you can turn the screws on those folks, and you can really get a pound of flesh,\u201d DeSantis said, adding that the agents will be used to \u201cgo after people they don\u2019t like.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis continued, blasting President Biden for deeming MAGA Americans \u201csemi-fascist.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re using the power of the state to weaponize that against people that they don\u2019t like and so who do they not like? Well, they don\u2019t like people who are small business, people are individual entrepreneurs, whatever, that\u2019s where that\u2019s going to go,\u201d he said, warning that it will have a \u201creally devastating effect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo it\u2019s a slap in the face for a government that doesn\u2019t even enforce the law itself at the border and other places to be going after Americans based on technicalities in the tax code,\u201d he said, reemphasizing that \u201cthis is not going to reduce inflation one red cent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf anything, it\u2019s going to increase inflation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>A recent poll found that nearly half of Americans believe new IRS agents will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrafalgargroup.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/COSA-IRS-Employees-Full-Report-0824.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">used<\/a> to target the middle class or the political opponents of those in power.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The fleet of 87,000 new IRS agents, made possible by the left-wing Inflation Reduction Act, will be used to target middle class Americans, Florida Gov.
