The former president\u2019s legal team argued in the lawsuit that the raid in Mar-a-Lago appeared to be motivated by politics rather than law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[T]he Government has failed to legitimize its historic decision,\u201d the suit says, adding that Attorney General Merrick Garland took the \u201cunheard-of step\u201d of holding a press conference over the raid and agreeing to release part of the search warrant application.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit called for an independent review of the seized documents, a request the Justice Department has rejected.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has also blasted the approval of a search warrant on his Florida residence, arguing the full document should be released. The request was also denied, with only a highly redacted version made public.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-doj-releases-affidavit-justifying-fbi-raid-on-trump\">released<\/a> the heavily redacted version of the search warrant <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.flsd.617854\/gov.uscourts.flsd.617854.102.1.pdf\">affidavit<\/a>\u00a0on Friday.
