It was actually the same pistol seen strapped to Ford\u2019s leg near the end of \u201cStar Wars: A New Hope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Original &#8216;Star Wars&#8217; Han Solo gun sells for $1M at auction <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kfFeyqYBnb\">https:\/\/t.co\/kfFeyqYBnb<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/fdVtoHkvoF\">pic.twitter.com\/fdVtoHkvoF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 New York Post (@nypost) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nypost\/status\/1564628207780896771?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 30, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The blaster was originally a Mauser C96 broom handle pistol that Lucas crew converted to a non-firing weapon for the film, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/han-solos-blaster-from-star-wars-a-new-hope-to-auction-in-rock-island-auction-company-premier-auction-aug-26--28-301588174.html\">PRNewswire<\/a>\u00a0reported.<\/p>\n<p>Han\u2019s gun reportedly went missing after the film wrapped and a new gun had to be created for the following films, \u201cStar Wars: The Empire Strikes Back\u201d and \u201cStar Wars: Return of the Jedi,\u201d the New York Post noted.<\/p>\n<p>The auction was held by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rockislandauction.com\">Rock Island Auction Company<\/a>\u00a0for collector firearms. The company previously held auctions for such legendary weapons as John Wayne\u2019s pistol from \u201cTrue Grit\u201d and Alexander Hamilton\u2019s pistols, TMZ noted.<\/p>\n<p>To put the sale of the blaster into perspective, another weapon that was used in \u201cReturn of the Jedi\u201d sold for $550,000 just a few years earlier in 2018, PRNewswire noted.<\/p>\n<p>To date, the highest priced \u201cStar Wars\u201d merchandise ever sold was an R2-D2 droid that went for $2.76 million in 2017 to one lucky fan of the galaxy far, far away, the post noted.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, more memorabilia from the legendary movie franchise went up for auction by the London- and Los Angeles-based company Prop Store.
