Kise is expected to make his first court appearance on behalf of Trump on Thursday to discuss the former president\u2019s request for a special master in front of U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon.<\/p>\n<p>Discussions between Trump and Kise reportedly began shortly after the FBI\u2019s raid on Mar-a-Lago as Trump shopped around for an experienced criminal defense attorney. Kise will join Trump\u2019s current attorneys, Evan Corcoran and Jim Trusty, in working on the FBI raid case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChris is a 360-degree lawyer: appellate, civil, criminal, state and federal \u2014 he can do it all,\u201d former Florida Sen. George LeMieux told NBC. Kise was appointed solicitor general in 2003 when LeMieux was serving as chief of staff to then-Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist.<\/p>\n<p>Crowning Kise\u2019s legal career are four successfully argued cases in the U.S. Supreme Court. He has successfully argued dozens of others in front of the Supreme Court of Florida and has extensive experience across state and federal courts, according to his\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lawandcrime.com\/high-profile\/trump-reportedly-adds-former-florida-solicitor-general-and-ron-desantis-ally-to-legal-team-in-aftermath-of-mar-a-lago-search\/\">biography<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Before signing a contract to represent Trump, Kise worked at the firm Foley and Lardner. As of Tuesday morning, Kise\u2019s name no longer appears on the firm\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>Kise is described as a \u201cfixture in Florida Republican politics,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/08\/30\/trump-florida-solicitor-general-mar-a-lago-probe-00054219\">Politico<\/a>. He served as counsel to former Florida Governor Charlie Crist. Kise later served as general counsel to former Florida Governor Rick Scott\u2019s transition team in 2010 and then again for Governor Ron DeSantis\u2019s team in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>During DeSantis\u2019s 2018 run for governor against Democratic candidate and former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, Kise <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/florida-politics\/buzz\/2018\/10\/25\/meet-the-lawyer-who-dropped-a-political-bombshell-on-the-florida-governors-race\/\">released<\/a> 2016 text messages showing Gillum accepted tickets to see the Broadway play \u201cHamilton\u201d from an undercover FBI agent. The bombshell exacerbated ethical and corruption concerns hanging over Gillum\u2019s mayoral administration.<\/p>\n<p>Kise, who made the texts public two weeks before election day, has denied that he released the messages for any political motive.
