Kong Gets Its Release Date, Will Feature Godzilla<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2022\/tv\/news\/king-kong-live-action-series-disney-plus-1235348772\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deadline reports<\/a> Disney Branded Television is developing a King Kong series using the 1933 film as a reference point along with extra canon material by novelization writer Joe DeVito who worked with the estate of Kong screenwriter and co-creator Merian C. Instead, the drama is being written and executive produced by Stephany Folsom who recently developed the <em>Stranger Things-<\/em>style sci-fi series <em>Paper Girls<\/em> for Amazon.<\/p>\n<p>Folsom is also a consulting producer on two episodes of Amazon\u2019s<em> The Lord of the Rings:<\/em>\u00a0<em>The Rings of Power<\/em>. Moreover, the property is more popular than ever so Disney would want in on that fervor.<\/p>\n<p>Even without the public domain, the status of the rights to King Kong are very complicated.
