(Image credit: Justin Sullivan\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 5:34 PM PT \u2013 Monday, August 29, 2022<\/h5>\n<p>Vice President Kamala Harris is unable to explain how the United States Government will pay for the proposed <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/debt-relief-announcement\/\">Student Debt Forgiveness<\/a> plan.<\/p>\n<p>During a rare public appearance on Monday, Harris was asked who\u2019s going to foot the bill for the proposed program.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWho specifically is footing the bill for student loan forgiveness?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>KAMALA HARRIS\u2026<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AQts7A2bHu\">pic.twitter.com\/AQts7A2bHu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 RNC Research (@RNCResearch) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/1564319053820354561?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 29, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In response, the Vice President tried to dodge the question. She went on to criticize Donald Trump\u2019s tax cuts that were passed in 2017.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cWell let\u2019s start with this,\u201d Harris said. \u201cFirst of all, a lot of the same people who are criticizing what we rightly did in following through on a commitment that we made, um to forgive student loan debt, are the same people who voted for tax cuts for the richest Americans.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Subsequent congressional studies found, contrary to Harris\u2019s claims, that Trump\u2019s plan benefited the middle class and not the wealthiest Americans.
