This is a complete turnaround from a company that was once shunned for discriminating against women of average weight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew Abercrombie &#038; Fitch ad just dropped\u2026. Who aspires to this look?!\u201d someone else asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe has a pretty face, too bad society told her not only was it healthy to look like this but it was also brave and empowering,\u201d another person on Twitter agreed.<\/p>\n<p>Many followers questioned if the image was real or the product of some clever photo editing skills. For now, the Abercrombie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/abercrombieofficial\/\">Facebook<\/a> page still has the picture posted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in 2013, the CEO of Abercrombie went viral for making comments about overweight customers wearing the brand after the retailer was accused of refusing to sell XL- or XXL-sized clothing.<\/p>\n<p>Robin Lewis, author of \u201cThe New Rules of Retail,\u201d explained the CEO\u2019s thoughts on the brand, Elite Daily <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elitedaily.com\/news\/world\/abercrombie-fitch-ceo-explains-why-he-hates-fat-chicks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe doesn\u2019t want larger people shopping in his store, he wants thin and beautiful people,\u201d Lewis said of then-CEO Mike Jeffries. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t want his core customers to see people who aren\u2019t as hot as them wearing his clothing. People who wear his clothing should feel like they\u2019re one of the \u2018cool kids.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jeffries himself said as much in 2006. \u201cIn every school there are the cool and popular kids, and then there are the not-so-cool kids,\u201d he told Salon in an interview.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCandidly, we go after the cool kids. We go after the attractive all-American kid with a great attitude and a lot of friends. A lot of people don\u2019t belong [in our clothes], and they can\u2019t belong. Are we exclusionary? Absolutely. Those companies that are in trouble are trying to target everybody: young, old, fat, skinny. But then you become totally vanilla. You don\u2019t alienate anybody, but you don\u2019t excite anybody, either,\u201d he concluded.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jeffries retired in 2014.
