Elizabeth Warren.<\/p>\n<p>Two months after congressional Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/21\/pro-choice-democrats-demand-google-block-search-results-for-crisis-pregnancy-centers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">demanded<\/a> Google block search results for crisis pregnancy centers, the Silicon Valley giant also announced it would add labels to pro-life clinics explicitly stating that they do not offer abortion services.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen someone in the US searches for health care providers that provide abortions \u2014 for example, using the query \u2018abortion clinics near me\u2019 \u2014 the Local Search results box will display facilities that have been verified to provide abortions,\u201d Google <a href=\"https:\/\/www.searchenginejournal.com\/google-to-clearly-label-clinics-that-provide-abortions\/462644\/#close\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> in a reply to the 21 Democrats including Sens. Warren, Amy Klobuchar, Richard Blumenthal, Dianne Feinstein, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Bernie Sanders who called for censorship. \u201cSearch results for such queries will also be clearly labeled as to whether the facility provides abortions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Much to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.warner.senate.gov\/public\/index.cfm\/pressreleases?id=56093204-813B-48DE-89B2-8678E2D38551\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Democrats\u2019 delight<\/a>, that decision resulted in Google adding \u201cextra layers of verification to help confirm that places labeled \u2018abortion clinics\u2019 on Google Maps and Search offer abortions.\u201d Corporate press outlets such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/graphics\/2022-google-search-abortion-clinic-crisis-pregnancy-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a> and The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/health\/2022\/06\/18\/google-abortion-clinic-searches-fake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington Post<\/a>, which specifically pushed for Google to align itself with the left\u2019s radical abortion agenda, also celebrated the Big Tech company\u2019s change with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/technology\/2022\/08\/25\/google-maps-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fawning coverage.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Yelp, a San Francisco company that provides information and a place for customers to review businesses, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.yelp.com\/news\/providing-consumers-with-reliable-information-about-reproductive-health-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> last week that it would qualify searches for pregnancy-related care with a \u201cconsumer notice\u201d that claims faith-based crisis pregnancy centers \u201ctypically provide limited medical services and may not have licensed medical professionals onsite.\u201d Censorship decisions like Yelp\u2019s and Google\u2019s are accepting and reinforcing a narrative set by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/07\/20\/white-houses-relies-on-foreign-dark-money-group-that-tried-to-deplatform-the-federalist-to-justify-censorship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">foreign dark-money group<\/a>\u00a0The Center for Countering Digital Hate, and its <a href=\"https:\/\/counterhate.com\/blog\/anti-abortion-fake-clinics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">slanted \u201cresearch.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s well-reported that crisis pregnancy centers do not offer abortion services, and it\u2019s been shown that many provide misleading information in an attempt to steer people seeking abortion care to other options,\u201d Yelp\u2019s VP of User Operations Noorie Malik said in a statement. \u201cWith this new consumer notice we\u2019re aiming to further protect consumers from the potential of being misled or confused.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after news that the Supreme Court planned to overturn <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> broke, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/04\/12\/business\/yelp-abortion-employees.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Yelp<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/28\/companies-eager-to-subsidize-abortion-because-they-think-only-childless-women-are-profitable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Google<\/a> offered to subsidize travel for its female employees to get abortions. Google, which already has a long history of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/politics\/google-live-action-pro-life-groups-ads-unproven-medical-claims\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">banning and throttling pro-life advertisements<\/a>, even promised to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/tech\/tech-news\/google-says-will-delete-location-history-visits-abortion-clinics-medic-rcna36432\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">delete<\/a> the location history of anyone who visits an abortion facility. <\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Jordan Boyd is a staff writer at The Federalist and co-producer of The Federalist Radio Hour.
