The other is Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.), who was referenced because she was told by the U.S. archivist earlier this year details about materials the archivist received from Mar-a-Lago, Trump\u2019s estate.<\/p>\n<p>Other figures were discussed but not named, including the archivist, a Department of Justice lawyer, and a Trump lawyer. Other names were redacted, including the name of the FBI agent who wrote the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart approved the warrant based on the affidavit, a sworn statement. The warrant was executed at Mar-a-Lago on Aug. 8. The affidavit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/search-warrant-affidavit-for-trumps-mar-a-lago-home-released_4690865.html\">was made public with redactions<\/a> on orders from Reinhart.<\/p>\n<p>The inclusion of Patel\u2019s name drew widespread attention, including from former FBI official Peter Strzok, whose display of animus toward Trump in text messages led to his termination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNever great to see your unredacted name in a search warrant affidavit,\u201d Strzok wrote on Twitter, recommending Patel hire a lawyer.<\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Devoid of Concern\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Patel, who was a key part of the congressional investigation that uncovered how Hillary Clinton\u2019s campaign and other Democrats funded the anti-Trump dossier, said that the DOJ and FBI make up a \u201ccartel of corruption inside of our government\u201d that \u201cis so devoid of concern about national security, they could not be bothered to see the judge in-person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was referring to how Reinhart received the warrant affidavit and application via WhatsApp, a communication tool owned by Meta, which also owns Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe DOJ is on the line for my security with their dangerous actions,\u201d Patel added, before revealing the FBI has been investigating death threats that were made against him.<\/p>\n<p>The portion in the affidavit mentioning Patel had the FBI author saying he or she was \u201caware\u201d of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/05\/05\/documents-mar-a-lago-marked-classified-were-already-declassified-kash-patel-says\/\">an article<\/a> published on Breitbart on May 5, which reported on an interview with Patel in which he said that reports that classified documents were found at Mar-a-Lago were misleading.<\/p>\n<p>Patel said that Trump had declassified the materials using his authority as president.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has also said he declassified the materials.<\/p>\n<p>The FBI agent\u2019s response to Patel\u2019s claim was redacted.<\/p>\n<p>Government officials said they redacted so much due to a need to protect the identities of witnesses and government agents, along with a desire to protect the integrity of the investigation into Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say Trump violated several laws, including one governing the use of national defense information.<\/p>\n<p>The specific reasons for most of the redactions were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/22267160-proposed-redaction-explanation\">largely redacted<\/a>, drawing criticism from Trump\u2019s team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Biden administration\u2019s hostility towards transparency knows no bounds They are not only planning on hiding their explanation for their unprecedented raid of [Mar-a-Lago], but they are also going to hide the reason for hiding their explanation,\u201d Taylor Budowich, a spokesperson for Trump, said in a statement. \u201cAbsurd!\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"author_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"one_author_block round\">\n<div class=\"top_row\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/author-zachary-stieber\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Follow<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Zachary Stieber covers U.S. and world news.
