In an obvious way, the new tactic highlights his administration\u2019s incompetence.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-biden-announces-details-of-student-loan-cancellation-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> that he was enacting massive debt cancellation \u2014 paid for in part by millions of Americans who didn\u2019t attend college, nevermind take out student loans. Many GOP officials voiced concern that this was simply a transfer of wealth from the working class to the white-collar class.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Folks like Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Mike Kelly (R-PA), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), and more all made similar comments, saying it was unfair for tradesmen and non-college degree holders to bail out post-grads.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In turn, the White House snarkily responded by posting evidence that those individuals and others had received PPP loans and had their debts forgiven.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene had $183,504 in PPP loans forgiven.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4FoCymt8TB\">https:\/\/t.co\/4FoCymt8TB<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The White House (@WhiteHouse) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WhiteHouse\/status\/1562916200866267138?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 25, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Those tweets weren\u2019t the \u201cown of the century\u201d the 20-something communications staffers thought it was.<\/p>\n<p>PPP loans were created by Congress in the middle of a worldwide pandemic to help struggling businesses stay afloat while local and state governments forced them to close.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps for the first time ever with a federal bill, the legislation\u2019s name was pretty straightforward. <\/p>\n<p>The loans were given to protect paychecks and employees. It was <a href=\"https:\/\/home.treasury.gov\/system\/files\/136\/PPP-Forgiveness-Factsheet-508.pdf\">understood<\/a> that these loans could be forgiven from the outset.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Did some people take advantage of that plan? Probably, but that is not the same thing as signing onto a student loan, agreeing to pay it back with interest, and then wondering where your bailout is for money that you agreed to take under those conditions.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that much of the criticism from the right isn\u2019t even that student loans were forgiven.<\/p>\n<p> The criticism is the mechanism used \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-is-using-a-law-intended-for-9-11-heroes-to-legally-cancel-student-debt-its-pretty-convoluted\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a 2003 law intended for\u00a0 9\/11 heroes<\/a> \u2014 to cancel student debts while making taxpayers foot the bill.\u00a0 Biden\u2019s bailout completely lets colleges, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/should-we-seize-college-endowments-to-solve-the-debt-problem\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arguably perpetuated<\/a> a fraud on entire generations of kids, off the hook. These days, higher education doesn\u2019t exactly teach critical thinking skills or economic literacy.
