Thirty-six percent may not sound like much, but it\u2019s a significant increase from 2020\u2019s report, which showed EV interest at four percent.<\/p>\n<p>Still, one of the hurdles to increased EV adoption is price. On July 12, Kelly Blue Book <a href=\"https:\/\/mediaroom.kbb.com\/2022-07-12-New-Vehicle-Prices-Set-a-Record-in-June,-According-to-Kelley-Blue-Book,-as-Luxury-Share-Hits-New-High\">reported<\/a> that the average cost of an EV was over $66,000. (Stephen Lam\/Reuters) <\/p>\n<p>To help combat the above and increase EV adoption, Democrats proposed new EV tax credits in the IRA, and the tax credits went into effect on Aug. 16.<\/p>\n<p>Since the IRA\u2019s passage, however, the particulars of the EV credits have come to light, and some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/08\/19\/1118519199\/what-the-inflation-reduction-act-means-for-electric-car-buyers-and-auto-companie\">experts<\/a> are pointing out that the new EV credits exclude lower-priced EVs and could phase out entirely in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, economically priced EVs from Toyota and Hyundai are now ineligible for EV tax credits, while Audi\u2019s Q5 PHEV, and BMW\u2019s 330e qualify for up to $7,500\u2014for now.<\/p>\n<p>Why?
