They wrote that Oversight Committee Republicans are examining \u201cthe false claims\u201d made by the Biden administration about the impact of electric vehicles on U.S. jobs.<\/p>\n<p>To rebuke the administration\u2019s claims, the lawmakers pointed out how Ford will cut about 8,000 jobs this summer to \u201cboost profits to fund its push into the electric-vehicle market,\u201d citing a July <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/rnyUr\">article<\/a> from Bloomberg.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2022\/08\/25\/GettyImages-1330462208-1200x800.jpg\"><\/a> Rep. (Brandon Bell\/Getty Images) <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of the 8,000 jobs will be salaried workers in the United States, representing as much as 25 percent of Ford\u2019s American salaried workers,\u201d they wrote. \u201cFord is focusing on\u00a0eliminating employees from its gas-fueled vehicle line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the job cuts, Ford has turned to a Chinese supplier for battery packs. According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/media.ford.com\/content\/fordmedia\/fna\/us\/en\/news\/2022\/07\/21\/ford-battery-capacity-raw-materials-scale-evs.html\">statement<\/a> from Ford\u2019s website, the U.S. automaker inked a cooperation agreement with China-based Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL) in July. Under the terms of the agreement, CATL will supply electric batteries for certain models of Ford\u2019s electric pickup trucks and SUVs beginning in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>CATL <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catl.com\/en\/news\/968.html\">stated<\/a>\u00a0that its agreement with Ford allows the two firms to \u201cleverage their respective strengths to jointly explore new business opportunities worldwide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, the lawmakers warned about CATL\u2019s ties to the Chinese communist regime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCATL is influential in the Chinese government\u2014being able to independently draft government safety regulations while completely dominating the EV battery market with support<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Chinese Communist Party will likely become the beneficiary of President Joe Biden\u2019s push to fill U.S. streets with electric vehicles, according to 16 Republicans on the House Oversight Committee.
