Cox, said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Cox\u2019s government is moving to undo Biden\u2019s decision to restore the original size of\u00a0the\u00a0Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments in Utah which\u00a0former President Donald Trump had reduced during his term.<\/p>\n<p>Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante are by far the two largest of Utah\u2019s nine national monuments, covering a combined 3.2 million acres of land. Utah is arguing that this is much bigger than necessary and makes them difficult to properly care for.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, all seven of Utah\u2019s other monuments and all five of its national parks, plus New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, Washington D.C., and the entire state of Delaware, could fit inside the two national monuments in question, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LWyees6UuGQ\">video<\/a> shared by Cox.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2021\/03\/24\/gov-cox-e1617644998857-1200x731.jpg\"><\/a> Utah Gov. Allred\/Deseret News via AP) <\/p>\n<p>This makes it difficult to properly manage and conserve the national monuments, which face vandalism, while attracting large numbers of visitors, the video states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lands that make up Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments are a stewardship that none of us take lightly. But rather than guarding those resources, President Biden\u2019s unlawful designations place them all at risk,\u201d Cox <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovCox\/status\/1562536441766326273?s=20&amp;t=WT2xLOcQAd-MUyOMH--4Mg\">said on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p> Lawsuit <\/p>\n<p>Utah\u2019s attorney general, Reyes, filed the lawsuit in the\u00a0U.S. District Court for the District of Utah, arguing Biden\u2019s decision violates the Antiquities Act of 1906.<\/p>\n<p>The Antiquities Act of 1906 limits U.S. presidents to keep monuments \u201cconfined to the smallest area compatible with proper care and management of the objects to be protected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden invoked tribal rights<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes has filed a lawsuit to challenge President Joe Biden\u2019s alleged unlawful designation of two national monuments, the state\u2019s Republican governor, Spencer J.
