Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) won the Aug. 23 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-florida\">Florida<\/a> primary against his Republican challengers, bringing the incumbent representative closer to securing a fourth term in Congress in November.<\/p>\n<p>His Democratic opponent in the Nov. 8 general election will be Rebekah Jones,\u00a0former data manager for the Florida Department of Health.<\/p>\n<p>Gaetz,\u00a0who represents the westernmost part of Florida in the 1st Congressional District, beat\u00a0GOP challengers Mark Lombardo, a Marine veteran and former FedEx executive, and Greg Merk, a retired military officer and pilot.<\/p>\n<p>Gaetz is a member of the House Freedom Caucus and a high-profile ally of former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-donald-trump\">Donald Trump<\/a>, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/trump-endorses-florida-rep-matt-gaetz_4678425.html\">endorsed Gaetz<\/a> on Aug. 20.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMatt is a Champion of our MAGA Agenda, who tirelessly works to Drain the Swamp, Secure the Border, Support our Brave Veterans and Law Enforcement, Defend the Second Amendment, Stand Up to the Woke Mob, and Fight the Never-Ending Witch Hunts from the Radical Left that are destroying our Country!\u201d\u00a0Trump\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/108856831520629155\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>\u00a0on his Truth Social platform.<\/p>\n<p>Donald Trump Jr. also campaigned for the congressman in Pensacola, Florida.<\/p>\n<p> Hoping to \u2018Win With a Mandate\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>Gaetz was elected to Congress in 2016 and is nearing the end of this third term. Previously he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016.<\/p>\n<p>In early August, Gaetz told\u00a0NTD\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntd.com\/rep-gaetz-concerns-new-bill-wont-reduce-inflation_822216.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Capitol Report<\/a>\u201d program\u00a0that he anticipates Republicans will take back the House in November. GOP lawmakers plan to set up a\u00a0select committee to investigate the Biden family\u2019s business dealings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to win. But I don\u2019t want to win by default or dissolution.
