(Chip Somodevilla\/Getty Images) <\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the EDF stated that thanks to the passage of the IRA, policymakers can no longer stand in the way or claim that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) lacks authority to implement its agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new legislation takes a step forward in addressing these impediments to progress, providing EPA with new authority, new resources, and community-led investments to advance environmental and climate justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, before IRA\u2019s passing, the EPA had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.afslaw.com\/perspectives\/energy-environmental-law-adviser\/epa-administrator-michael-regan-emphasizes-the-high\">announced<\/a> that \u201cenvironmental justice\u201d would be a priority for the EPA.
