But just in case there\u2019s even the remotest sliver of truth in their thinking on this, Republicans should make sure they incorporate the following clip from January 2020 into the ads they run from now until Election Day 2022 as a reminder of what Democrats are actually proposing.<\/p>\n<p>The scene was Grimes, Iowa, on January 20, 2020, just a few days before the Iowa caucuses. Then-Democratic (socialist) presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), long a proponent of taxpayers footing the bill on student loans, <a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/nick-arama\/2020\/01\/23\/father-confronts-warren-and-rips-her-apart-on-student-loan-forgiveness-can-i-get-my-money-back-n126420\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was confronted<\/a> by an angry father who told it <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/01\/24\/elizabeth-warren-confronted-by-angry-dad-over-student-loan-forgiveness-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">like it was<\/a> on how he had saved his money to pay off his daughter\u2019s college education by working double shifts, while a friend of his lived the high life and (presumably) could not pay off his student loan debts:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI just wanted to ask one question. My daughter is getting out of school. I\u2019ve saved all my money. She doesn\u2019t have any student loans. Am I going to get my money back?\u201d the father asked Warren in a photo line after a presidential campaign town hall in Grimes, Iowa, on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course not,\u201d Warren answered, without hesitation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo you\u2019re going to pay for people who didn\u2019t save any money and those of us who did the right thing get screwed?\u201d the father pressed.<\/p>\n[\u2026]\n<p>\u201cMy buddy had fun, bought a car, and went on all the vacations, I saved my money. He makes more than I did. I worked a double shift,\u201d the father continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re laughing at me,\u201d the man said, which Warren denied. \u201cYeah, that\u2019s exactly what you\u2019re doing. We did the right thing and we get screwed,\u201d he can be heard telling Warren.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Warren thanked him for his time, and they both then moved on. Am I going to get my money back?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Warren: \u201cOf course not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo you\u2019re going to pay for people who didn\u2019t save any money and those of us who did the right thing get screwed.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Z19hR5Vsdg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pic.twitter.com\/Z19hR5Vsdg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Daily Wire (@realDailyWire) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDailyWire\/status\/1562131578460987392?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">August 23, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As that clip demonstrated, and as <a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/sister-toldjah\/2022\/08\/22\/purported-leftist-thought-leader-confirms-some-of-our-worst-fears-about-democrats-n616148\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent comments<\/a> from other Democrats on this issue confirm, they just don\u2019t get it.<\/p>\n<p>Taking chunks of money from hard-working Americans, especially at a time when their money doesn\u2019t go as far as it used to be able to thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/bobhoge\/2022\/06\/09\/shrinkflation-is-real-the-inflation-youre-not-supposed-to-notice-n576470\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shrinkflation<\/a>, and putting it towards paying off student loans that people voluntarily signed up for, is not going to go over well with most folks who have debts of their own to pay off.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever \u2013 if any \u2013 electoral \u201cmomentum\u201d Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/nick-arama\/2022\/08\/24\/dems-crowing-over-big-win-in-bellwether-house-race-but-it-may-not-be-what-they-think-n616911\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">may have gotten<\/a> from the SCOTUS\u2019 June decision on <em>Dobbs<\/em> will be neutered by Biden\u2019s actions on student loans.
