Markle said if it wasn\u2019t for an attentive nanny, things could\u2019ve ended very differently for the royal, who was born in May 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we went on our tour to South Africa, we landed with Archie,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/meghan-markle-made-kate-middleton-burst-into-tears-during-dress-fitting-before-wedding-royal-biographer-claims\">Markle<\/a> explained. \u201cArchie was what, four and a half months old. And the moment we landed, we had to drop him off at this housing unit that they had us staying in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The couple said Archie was ready for a nap, and they left to attend an official royal engagement. After the event, she said they got in the car to return to where they were staying, and were told, \u201c\u2018There\u2019s been a fire at the residence.\u2019 What? \u2018There\u2019s been a fire in the baby\u2019s room.\u2019 What?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe [the nanny, Lauren] was supposed to put Archie down for his nap, and she just said, \u2018You know what? Let me just go get a snack downstairs,\u2019\u201d the duchess added. \u201cLauren\u2019s from Zimbabwe, and we loved that she would always tie him on her, her back with a mud cloth, and her instinct was like, \u2018Let me just bring him with me before I put him down.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn that amount of time that she went downstairs, the heater in the nursery caught on fire,\u201d Markle continued. \u201cThere was no smoke detector. Someone happened to just smell smoke down the hallway, went in, fire extinguished.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former \u201cSuits\u201d actress explained that she, Harry, and everyone were obviously \u201cshaken\u201d by what happened and in \u201ctears\u201d because she said Archie \u201cwas supposed to be sleeping in there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of what they had just gone through, she said the royal couple still had to leave their child to go do another \u201cofficial engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot in 2018.
