DeFilippis did not return a query.<\/p>\n<p>DeFilippis was one of the prosecutors in the trial of Michael Sussmann, the first trial stemming from Durham\u2019s investigation. Jurors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/jury-finds-former-clinton-campaign-lawyer-not-guilty-of-lying-to-fbi_4502691.html\">acquitted Sussmann<\/a> in May of lying to the FBI.<\/p>\n<p>DeFilippis had been involved in the case against Danchenko since shortly after Danchenko was indicted in November 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Durham, a former U.S. attorney appointed as special counsel by former Attorney General William Barr, went to court each day for the Sussmann trial, but did not speak during the proceedings and declined to answer questions after the verdict was handed down.<\/p>\n<p>Durham has signaled he will take a larger role in the case against Danchenko, who has been charged with five counts of lying to the FBI and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.<\/p>\n<p>Durham was the lone prosecutor to speak <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/trial-of-key-steele-dossier-source-expected-to-last-5-to-6-days-special-counsel-durham_4636022.html\">in the most recent hearing<\/a>, on Aug. 1, and soon after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/special-counsel-durham-may-personally-try-danchenko-case-court-filing-indicates_4639084.html\">lodged a filing<\/a> that indicated he will lead the prosecution. Several assistant prosecutors, including Michael Keilty, were present, but DeFilippis was not there.<\/p>\n<p>Keilty and Jonathan Algor are holdovers from the Sussmann trial.
