Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) during an Aug. 22 interview with Steve Lance on NTD, a sister media outlet of Epoch Times.<\/p>\n<p>Carter said that, should Republicans gain majority control of the oversight and investigation committees after the upcoming midterm elections, the GOP would make it a priority to investigate whether Fauci mishandled the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/giving-the-right-name-to-the-virus-causing-a-worldwide-pandemic-2_3277200.html\">COVID-19<\/a> pandemic or willfully mislead the public about the virus.<\/p>\n<p>Fauci\u2019s tenure, Carter said, had been marred by inconsistency and flip-flopping on vital issues, such as the origins of the virus.<\/p>\n<p>In May 2020, Fauci <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/fauci-says-evidence-very-strongly-shows-virus-did-not-originate-in-wuhan-lab_3339286.html\">said<\/a> that the virus \u201ccould not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Fauci has since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/fauci-says-he-is-open-on-virus-lab-leak-theory_4618309.html\">said<\/a> that he is \u201copen\u201d to the idea that the virus originated in a laboratory following a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GOPoversight\/status\/1450934193177903105\/photo\/1\">concession<\/a> by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) last year that it provided funding to third-party groups to perform gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses at laboratory in Wuhan, China.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to make sure that we\u2019re not doing this again and, if indeed this did come from a leak in the Wuhan lab, then China needs to be held responsible,\u201d Carter said. \u201cThere\u2019s no question about that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is good news for America, because we need to take the politics out of healthcare.
