He doesn\u2019t call for Pelosi to be imprisoned in the Facebook video.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>McConnell, who recently returned from a trip to areas in<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsaz.com\/2022\/08\/09\/sen-mitch-mcconnell-meets-with-officials-eastern-kentucky-after-devastating-flooding\/\">Kentucky<\/a> affected by floods, has now called for an \u201cimmediate explanation\u201d from the FBI in regards to its raid of<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\"> Mar-a-Lago, according to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/national-security\/3595121-mcconnell-calls-for-thorough-and-immediate-explanation-of-mar-a-lago-raid\/\">The Hill<\/a>. The minority leader has also joined with 25 other Republican senators to defend Pelosi\u2019s recent trip to Taiwan, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/international\/3584386-mcconnell-25-gop-senators-back-pelosi-taiwan-trip\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">outlet<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Now, a Facebook video viewed over 52,000 times claims he recently called for the imprisonment of Pelosi. \u201cShe Should Be \ud835\udc09\ud835\udc00\ud835\udc08\ud835\udc0b\ud835\udc04\ud835\udc03!\u201d Mitch Mcconnell \ud835\udc04\ud835\udc17\ud835\udc0f\ud835\udc0e\ud835\udc12\ud835\udc04\ud835\udc03 Nancy Pelosi To Her Face In \ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc20\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2c,\u201d The post\u2019s caption and title claims.<\/p>\n<p>The claim is baseless. Check Your Fact found no mention of \u201cimprisonment\u201d in Pelosi\u2019s verified<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=imprisonment%20(from%3ASpeakerPelosi)&amp;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile\/100044484547468\/search\/?q=imprisonment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">media<\/a><span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/speakerpelosi\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">accounts<\/a><\/span> or any<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.speaker.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press release<\/a><span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\"> on her website <\/span>confirming this statement. Likewise, McConnell has not addressed this on his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcconnell.senate.gov\/public\/index.cfm\/news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a> or verified <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile\/100044432769638\/search\/?q=pelosi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/leadermcconnell\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">media<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=pelosi%20(from%3ALeaderMcConnell)&amp;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">accounts<\/a>. There are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=mcconnell+pelosi+impeachment&amp;oq=mcconnell+pelosi+impeachment&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57.5347j0j1&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no credible news reports<\/a> suggesting McConnell made such a comment. <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/07\/18\/fact-check-mccarthy-pelosi-prosecuted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>(RELATED: Did Kevin McCarthy Say That Nancy Pelosi \u2018Should Be Jailed And Prosecuted\u2019?)<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The video, which is 12 minutes long, contains two clips from speeches that McConnell gave on the Senate floor. In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kYZtexlKux8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first clip<\/a> from March 2019, McConnell criticized Pelosi for not addressing the rise of anti-Semitism in the U.S., alluding to Rep.<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2019\/02\/ilhan-omar-bds\/582520\/\">Ilhan Omar\u2019s comments<\/a><span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>about money being the primary motive in congressional support for Israel. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wOQibRX98yU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">second clip<\/a> from February 2021 shows the minority leader discussing the events on Jan. 6 and calling for the continued \u201cinvestigation and prosecution of anyone who broke the law that day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time statements have been falsely attributed to McConnell.
