He states in today\u2019s ruling that \u201cgiven the intense public and historical interest in an unprecedented search of a former President\u2019s residence, the Government has not yet shown that these administrative concerns are sufficient to justify sealing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, the Biden DOJ continues to dishonestly hide its reasons for its abusive and unprecedented raid on the home of former President Trump. We\u2019re glad the court agrees the secrecy must end.<\/p>\n<p>The courts should reject the Biden DOJ \u201cmodified limited hangout\u201d approach to coming clean about abuse of President Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Four additional filings were made public today. Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/documents\/tags\/8-2022-filings\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After last week\u2019s hearing in West Palm Beach, FL, the court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/documents\/usa-v-sealed-search-warrant-redactions-order-08332\/\">issued an order<\/a> which stated:<\/p>\n<p>As I ruled from the bench at the conclusion of the hearing, I find that on the present record the Government has not met its burden of showing that the entire affidavit should remain sealed. It is ORDERED that by noon EST on Thursday, August 25, 2022, the Government shall file under seal its proposed redactions along with a legal memorandum setting forth the justification for the proposed redactions.<\/p>\n<p>The court also ordered the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/documents\/usa-v-sealed-search-warrant-documents-order-08332\/\">release of other documents<\/a> concerning the warrant.<\/p>\n<p>Judicial Watch has been in the forefront in the court battle for transparency regarding the abusive FBI raid.<\/p>\n<p>On August 9, Judicial Watch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/judicial-watch-files-motion-to-unseal-fbi-search-warrant-used-to-raid-president-trumps-mar-a-lago-home\/\">filed<\/a> its motion asking the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida to unseal as soon as possible the search warrant materials used by the FBI to raid President Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/documents\/judicial-watch-motion-to-unseal-search-warrant-08332\/\"><em>U.S. v. Sealed Search Warrant\u00a0<\/em>(Case No. 9:22-mj-08332<\/a>)).<\/p>\n<p>On August 11, the DOJ filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/judicial-watch-update-on-trump-warrant-legal-developments\/\">motion<\/a> offering to unseal certain warrant materials.<\/p>\n<p>On August 12, Judicial Watch Judicial Watch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/judicial-watch-statement-on-trump-warrant-release\/\">filed<\/a> President Trump\u2019s public statement with the court, in which he made it clear that he would not oppose the release of documents related to the August 8, 2022, raid. Later that day, the DOJ made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/judicial-watch-statement-on-trump-warrant-release\/\">a partial release<\/a> of the Trump raid warrant materials.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/documents\/times-unions-letter-motion-to-unseal-august-2022\/\"><em>Albany Times Union<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/documents\/nyts-motion-to-unseal-august-2022-08332\/\"><em>New York Times<\/em><\/a>\u00a0joined Judicial Watch in filing for the unsealing of the warrant by filing an amicus letter and motion respectively. Other interests later joined in the effort.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courtlistener.com\/docket\/64872441\/united-states-v-sealed-search-warrant\/\">ordered<\/a> by Magistrate Judge Reinhart to respond by August 15 to Judicial Watch\u2019s Motion to Unseal the warrant and supporting materials behind the FBI raid. In its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/documents\/doj-response-unseal-warrant-08332\/\">filing<\/a>, the Justice Department alleged that releasing the affidavit would \u201ccause significant and irreparable damage\u201d to its ongoing criminal investigation.<\/p>\n<p>On August 17, Judicial Watch submitted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/jw-asks-court-to-reject-biden-doj-request\/\">its reply<\/a> to the DOJ\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/biden-doj-opposes-jw\/\">effort<\/a> to keep under seal the affidavit used to justify the controversial raid on the home of former President Trump.
