He should spend more time (and money!) helping them get elected, and less time helping his crazy wife and family get rich on China!\u201d Trump was making reference to McConnell\u2019s wife, Elaine Chao, owning a shipping company that does extensive business in China, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s critical comment came days after McConnell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/mkt_app\/mitch-mcconnell-sounds-alarm-on-republicans-chances-of-retaking-senate-in-2022-midterms_4673715.html\">told<\/a> reporters that the GOP likely won\u2019t retake the Senate because, according to him, there are problems with certain Republican candidates running for office in this election cycle. He didn\u2019t elaborate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think there\u2019s probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate,\u201d McConnell told reporters in Kentucky last week. \u201cSenate races are just different, they\u2019re statewide, candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McConnell did not say whether he has a plan or will try to help certain Republican candidates win their races.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans need a net gain of one Senate seat to retake control of the congressional body.
