Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced legislation Friday to make performing so-called \u201cgender affirming care\u201d procedures on minors a felony.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/greene.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/greene.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/Protect_Children%27s_Innocence_Act_Bill_Text.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">legislation<\/a>, known as the \u201cProtect Children\u2019s Innocence Act,\u201d would make any hormonal or sex reassignment <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/12\/here-are-the-states-that-want-to-ban-trans-surgeries-for-minors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">surgeries<\/a>\u00a0on minors a Class C felony, which is punishable with 10-25 years in prison. A person who underwent any form of gender transition treatments is able to seek compensatory and punitive damages against the individual performing the procedure.<\/p>\n<p>The bill outlaws any procedure \u201cchanging the body\u201d of an individual to correspond to a member of the opposite biological sex, including castration, vasectomy, vaginoplasty and ovariectomy, the bill reads. It would also ban any hormone treatments, any form of plastic surgery to feminize or masculinize the face, chest implants and placement of fat in the gluteal region.<\/p>\n<p>Federal funding for any of these procedures is prohibited under the proposed legislation and prohibits healthcare facilities located on federal lands or tribal territories from performing the procedures. Exceptions additionally apply to anyone suffering from a physical disorder or injury, or in a possibly fatal situation. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/07\/walt-heyer-trans-woman-arkansas-hutchinson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Former Trans Woman Praises Laws Banning Sex Change Surgeries, Puberty Blockers For Minors)\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing in this section shall be construed as prohibiting provision of the medical services described in subsection (d)(1)(A) to address legitimate health issues, such as any male or female reproductive cancers, apart from changing the body to correspond to a sex that differs from one\u2019s biological sex,\u201d the bill read.<\/p>\n<p>12 lawmakers, including Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, Virginia Rep. Bob Good, and Utah Rep. Burgess Owens originally cosponsored the bill. Two senate candidates, J.D. Vance of Ohio and Blake Masters of Arizona, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepMTG\/status\/1560635924190568448\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">expressed<\/a> their support for the bill.<\/p>\n<p>Greene <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepMTG\/status\/1560429364931887106\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said Thursday<\/a> on \u201cTucker Carlson Tonight\u201d that these procedures are \u201cchild abuse\u201d and must be outlawed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is actually an assault and it\u2019s child abuse,\u201d Greene said. \u201cThis practice should never happen, it\u2019s so disgusting and appalling and it\u2019s an embarrassment to our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The measure is modeled on an Alabama law that criminalizes any hormone treatments, puberty blockers or sex change operations for minors as Class C felonies. A federal judge <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/changing-america\/respect\/equality\/3607955-marjorie-taylor-greene-introduces-bill-to-make-gender-affirming-care-for-transgender-youth-a-felony\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">temporarily blocked<\/a> the ban in May, arguing that the Alabama state government had not provided evidence that the treatments are \u201cexperimental.\u201d He further opined that parents and guardians, not the government, play a primary role in their children undergoing these procedures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Georgia Rep.
