Then they took us to this man\u2019s house and they just tied us on the bed and we were circumcised.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were tied in the legs,\u201d she added. \u201cCouldn\u2019t pee. Couldn\u2019t move. When we needed to pee, they would carry us and put us on the grass. I just didn\u2019t understand what was going on whatsoever and my mom didn\u2019t know that that was happening to us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Real Housewives of Dubai <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/RHODubai?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#RHODubai<\/a> star Chanel Ayan opened up about surviving female genital mutilation at 5. <\/p>\n<p>TODAY chatted with Ayan about why it was important to share her story and what\u2019s to come for the rest of the season. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MALVbhgebS\">https:\/\/t.co\/MALVbhgebS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 TODAY (@TODAYshow) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TODAYshow\/status\/1560337790688120832?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 18, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Chanel told the therapist, \u201cI don\u2019t have a lot of memories because I feel like I block things,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tv\/rhodubai-recap-chanel-ayan-reveals-she-was-circumcised-at-age-5\/\">People<\/a> magazine reported.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s previously spoken in the past about how her father allegedly beat her and how there was \u201ca lot of pain\u201d in her home growing up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe crying, the sadness, the beatings,\u201d Chanel shared. \u201cThat\u2019s what I remember. A lot of pain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At one point, the Kenyan-born model said that after she met the man who would become her husband, Christopher, she went to a doctor so she could be sexually intimate with the man she loved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI couldn\u2019t have sex,\u201d Ayan shared. \u201cAnd then I had to wait until I healed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The reality star also explained why she\u2019s talking about something so personal and painful, hoping that stops others from going through what she did.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think our girls should be going through this,\u201d Ayan said. \u201cThe reason that I\u2019m talking about it is to bring awareness to it and I want people to understand this happens every single day.
