Well, you did, according to CNN at least.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNext time you stop at a gas station, think of it as a $100-a-month tax cut. Or a maybe $100-a-month raise,\u201d Chris Isidore <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/08\/19\/energy\/gas-prices-savings\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">urged<\/a> in an absurd CNN Business article heralding that \u201cAmerica just got a $100-a-month raise.\u201d \u201cThe steady drop in gas prices over the last few months has turned into an unexpected form of economic stimulus, coming at a time when the Federal Reserve is trying to cool the economy and battle rising prices with higher interest rates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This spin \u2014 that a minor drop in gas prices following a major spike is \u201ceconomic stimulus\u201d \u2014 is about on par with President Joe Biden and his media lapdogs corroborating each others\u2019 fake news that an 8.5 percent inflation increase is actually \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/10\/media-parrot-bidens-absurd-claim-that-julys-8-5-percent-inflation-increase-is-actually-zero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">zero<\/a>.\u201d Or the corporate press, after two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth, waxing philosophical about suddenly unknowable mysteries like \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/27\/call-it-whatever-you-want-the-economy-sucks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">What is a recession<\/a>?\u201d Or The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/08\/16\/style\/joe-biden-aviators.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">insisting<\/a> that even though Americans\u2019 quality of life is rapidly declining, \u201cBiden is having a good day\u201d because his aviator shades are back. Or The Washington Post\u2019s resident fake conservative <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/washingtonpost\/status\/1510938849844813831\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announcing<\/a> that <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/04\/05\/bidens-media-lapdogs-if-everything-werent-horrible-everything-would-be-awesome\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">if everything weren\u2019t horrible, everything would be awesome<\/a>. The media\u2019s propensity to lie about anything unflattering to the regime truly knows no bounds. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p>It would be laughable if it weren\u2019t so infuriating and crippling. Rather than a $100-per-month \u2014 or $1,200-per-year \u2014 raise, American consumers are getting gouged on just about everything they need to live their lives, from gasoline and groceries to energy and rent. Year-over-year inflation rates have been soaring every single month <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/pdf\/cpi.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">to the tune<\/a> of the energy index rising 32.9 percent since last year, the gasoline index increasing 44.0 percent, and the fuel oil index rising a whopping 75.6 percent. And shoppers get reminded of the 13.1 percent rise in food-at-home prices every time they get sucker punched at the grocery store (which, P.S., is every time they go).<\/p>\n<p>In fact, contrary to Isidore\u2019s jubilant report that Biden\u2019s gas prices amount to a raise, economists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/inflation-cost-americans-5200-extra-food-gas-energy-prices-bloomberg-2022-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">estimate<\/a> Americans are actually spending at least an <em>extra<\/em> <em>$5,200<\/em> this year just to buy the same things they did in 2021. One <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/06\/10\/inflation-costing-americans-an-extra-460-per-month-analysis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">calculation<\/a> put the extra cost at $460 extra each month, or more than $5,500 this year. <\/p>\n<p>Thus, rather than still-high gas prices being a noteworthy raise, Americans\u2019 economic straits represent a significant demotion. This isn\u2019t like a minimum wage worker making an extra two bucks an hour. <em>Score!<\/em> This is a middle-class salary going from $32,000 to $26,500. <em>Congratulations on another year at this company! Instead of a raise, cough up five grand and your self-respect.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The media\u2019s pro-Biden, rosy-economy narrative is a farce. Anyone who\u2019s looked at his or her bank account knows there\u2019s no raise to be found. So instead, next time you go to the gas station, think of your situation as a direct result of the Biden administration relinquishing our energy independence to foreign adversaries or driving up costs to push you toward their \u201cliberal world order\u201d of electric cars. Think of today\u2019s prices as the natural outcome of reckless fiscal policy, like funneling billions of taxpayer dollars to Ukraine or into misnamed Democrat wish-list bills like Build Back Better or the Inflation Reduction Act.
