Sheldon Whitehouse refused to answer whether President Joe Biden should run for a second term while speaking on a podcast Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>During an appearance on the Rhode Island Report <a href=\"https:\/\/player.fm\/series\/rhode-island-report\/im-gonna-duck-that-question-whitehouse-on-whether-biden-should-run-again\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">podcast<\/a>, Whitehouse discussed the upcoming midterms and was asked whether Biden should launch a bid for re-election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s gonna be something to watch as we got through this election,\u201d Whitehouse said. \u201cObviously Biden is not on the ballot. He doesn\u2019t need to make a decision now about 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I do think that from now through November is a really important period for the Biden administration to set the mark for how they\u2019re going to campaign for 2024 and to establish the narrative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whitehouse was further pressured to answer, but dodged the question again.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Q: \u201cDo you think [Biden] should run again?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democrat Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse: \u201cI\u2019m going to duck that question.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/eRCekJ1FHP\">pic.twitter.com\/eRCekJ1FHP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 RNC Research (@RNCResearch) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/1560606307564097537?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 19, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m gonna duck the question if you don\u2019t mind,\u201d Whitehouse laughed. \u201cWe don\u2019t have any candidates yet for 2024, and I\u2019m not picking amongst them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democratic Missouri Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/25\/cori-bush-biden-reelection-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cori Bush<\/a> was similarly hesitant to answer a question about Biden\u2019s potential run during a July interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksdk.com\/article\/news\/politics\/rep-cori-bush-doesnt-want-to-talk-about-a-second-term-for-president-joe-biden\/63-cdd8b846-8b1b-437d-bc2c-5668161d32c5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KSDK<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bush said she didn\u2019t \u201cwant to answer\u201d whether Biden should run. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/04\/democrats-carolyn-maloney-joe-biden-running-president-2024-cnn-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: \u2018I Apologize\u2019: Democratic Rep. Carolyn Maloney Regrets Not Committing To Biden For 2024, Gushes Over President)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s the president. He has the right to run for a second term.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democratic West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin recently got into a shouting match on <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/02\/joe-manchin-msnbc-andrea-mitchell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MSNBC<\/a> when he refused to answer whether he\u2019d support Biden running for re-election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not going to talk about it,\u201d Manchin said when asked about a potential Biden run.<\/p>\n<p>New York Democratic representatives <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/03\/jerry-nadler-carolyn-maloney-biden-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jerry Nadler and Carolyn Maloney<\/a> also bucked the question during a primary debate, with Nadler saying it is \u201ctoo early to say.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic Rhode Island Sen.
