He was pursuing justice&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>According to many on the right, the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago was just another attempt by Democrats to prevent former President Donald Trump from running again in 2024. But according to Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), it was just the beginning.<\/p>\n<p> The Equal Protection Clause <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/constitutioncenter.org\/interactive-constitution\/interpretation\/amendment-xiv\/clauses\/702\">Equal Protection Clause<\/a> of the 14th Amendment prohibits states from denying anyone within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the law. That means every person must be treated the same way in the application of the laws as someone else in similar conditions and circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>On Aug. 11, Attorney General Merrick Garland admitted that he personally approved the warrant application authorizing the Aug. 8 raid on former President Donald Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago home. The warrant was based on alleged violations of the Espionage Act of 1917 (<a href=\"https:\/\/iowaculture.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/history-education-pss-wwi-espionageact-transcription.pdf\">pdf<\/a>) as well as three statutes: <a href=\"https:\/\/uscode.house.gov\/view.xhtml?req=(title:18%20section:793%20edition:prelim)%20OR%20(granuleid:USC-prelim-title18-section793)&amp;f=treesort&amp;edition=prelim&amp;num=0&amp;jumpTo=true\">18 U.S.C. section 793<\/a>, on the mishandling of defense information; <a href=\"https:\/\/uscode.house.gov\/view.xhtml?req=(title:18%20section:1519%20edition:prelim)\">18 U.S.C. section 1519<\/a>, relating to the destruction of federal documents; and <a href=\"https:\/\/uscode.house.gov\/view.xhtml?req=granuleid:USC-prelim-title18-section2071&amp;num=0&amp;edition=prelim\">18 U.S.C. section 2071<\/a>, which punishes any effort to\u00a0conceal, remove, mutilate, obliterate, or destroy federal documents.<\/p>\n<p>However, these are the same laws Hillary Clinton potentially violated in 2016 when she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/state-department-review-of-clinton-emails-cites-38-people-for-mishandling-classified-information_3121332.html\">deleted 33,000 subpoenaed emails<\/a> from her personal server, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bleachbit.org\/news\/bleachbit-stifles-investigation-hillary-clinton\">used BleachBit<\/a> to wipe her hard drives clean, and had government-issued\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/cnn-fact-check-confirms-clinton-aides-destroyed-mobile-devices-hammers\/\">mobile devices smashed with hammers<\/a>. Moreover, while then-FBI Director James Comey even admitted\u00a0that 110 of Clinton\u2019s emails\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbi.gov\/news\/press-releases\/press-releases\/statement-by-fbi-director-james-b-comey-on-the-investigation-of-secretary-hillary-clinton2019s-use-of-a-personal-e-mail-system\">contained classified information<\/a>,\u00a0that her staff was \u201cextremely careless\u201d in their handling of classified information and it\u2019s possible \u201chostile actors\u201d could have gained access to the server, he asserted that\u00a0\u201cno reasonable prosecutor\u201d would bring a criminal case against her.<\/p>\n<p>An Aug. 29, 2019 report (<a href=\"https:\/\/oig.justice.gov\/reports\/2019\/o1902.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) issued by then-Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz said Comey himself violated Department of Justice and FBI policies when he leaked classified information to<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to many on the right, the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago was just another attempt by Democrats to prevent former President Donald Trump from running again in 2024.
