Wade.<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The spending breaks the organization&#8217;s previous $45 million in 2020, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/abortion-2022-midterm-elections-health-congress-71871318f3c725a7df0bbe183e6c84be\">Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWho wins in these midterm elections will determine whether a state has access to abortion and potentially determine whether we will face a national abortion ban,\u201d Jenny Lawson, the executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes, told AP. \u00a0\u201cWe will be clear about who is on which side.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The spending will be focused on elections several abortion battleground states, including <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2022\/03\/31\/arizona-gov-ducey-signs-bills-limiting-abortion-and-protecting-womens-sports-n2605312\">Arizona<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2022\/07\/21\/pro-life-victory-georgias-heartbeat-law-takes-effect-after-court-ruling-n2610589\">Georgia<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2022\/08\/03\/michigan-judge-strikes-down-1931-abortion-ban-n2611203\">Michigan<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/columnists\/laurahollis\/2022\/07\/28\/whats-behind-the-attacks-on-crisis-pregnancy-centers-n2610927\">Minnesota<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2022\/06\/24\/kamala-harris-met-with-proabortion-attorneys-general-ahead-of-roe-overturn-n2609287\">Nevada<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/spencerbrown\/2022\/07\/22\/these-democrats-are-depending-on-outofstate-donors-to-make-it-to-november-n2610632\">New Hampshire<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2022\/07\/07\/dem-north-carolina-governor-signs-executive-order-protecting-abortion-access-n2609883\">North Carolina<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/reaganmccarthy\/2020\/03\/30\/pa-planned-parenthoods-stay-open-during-covid19-exclusively-for-abortion-n2565985\">Pennsylvania<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2022\/06\/08\/wisconsin-pro-abortion-gov-evers-asks-state-lawmakers-to-repeal-pre-roe-pro-life-n2608427\">Wisconsin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In May, shortly before the Dobbs leak, Townhall <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2022\/05\/02\/pro-abortion-groups-to-spend-150-million-ahead-of-2022-midterms-n2606547\">reported<\/a> how three massive pro-abortion groups, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice America and EMILY\u2019s List planned to spend $150 million on paid advertisements, field programs, messaging research and polling in nine battleground states.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe say this every cycle: \u2018This is the important election,\u2019\u201d Amy Kennedy, a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood Votes in Georgia, told AP. \u00a0\u201cFor us, this really is the most important election cycle of our life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The nation&#8217;s largest abortion provider plans to contact 6 million voters via door knocking, phone calls, digital ads and radio ads. Is it also launching a website called \u201ctakecontrol2022.com.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">After <em>Roe<\/em> fell, several states passed restrictions on abortion. The abortion clinic at the center of the case, <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2022\/07\/19\/owner-mississippis-last-abortion-clinic-is-sold-and-wont-reopen-n2610460\">Jackson Women&#8217;s Health Organization<\/a>, shut down for good and sold the building after Mississippi enacted a trigger law.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWhen people go to vote this November, nearly half of the folks voting could be living in a state that either has already banned abortion or is quickly moving to ban abortion. These are entirely new circumstances,\u201d Lawson said. \u201cThere are a lot of issues people care about, certainly, but the state of abortion access is absolutely one of the defining issues this November.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In the <em>Dobbs<\/em> case, the Supreme Court found that there was no Constitutional right to abortion established by <em>Roe.\u00a0<\/em>Both <em>Roe\u00a0<\/em>and 1992 abortion case <em>Planned Parenthood v. Casey\u00a0<\/em>were overturned as a result. Justice Samuel Alito wrote the majority opinion for the case.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In the opinion, Alito pointed to <em>Plessy v. Ferguson<\/em>, an 1896 decision that claimed that &#8220;separate but equal&#8221; did not violate the U.S. Constitution. In 1954, <em>Brown v. Board of Education<\/em> overturned it.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Like the infamous decision in <em>Plessy v. Ferguson<\/em>, <em>Roe<\/em> was also egregiously wrong and on a collision course with the Constitution from the day it was decided. <em>Casey<\/em> perpetuated its errors, calling both sides of the national controversy to resolve their debate, but in doing so, <em>Casey<\/em> necessarily declared a winning side. Those on the losing side\u2014those who sought to advance the State\u2019s interest in fetal life\u2014could no longer seek to persuade their elected representatives to adopt policies consistent with their views.
