The DOJ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-ma\/pr\/statement-us-attorney-rachael-s-rollins-regarding-alleged-threats-made-boston-childrens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">responded<\/a> to these complaints with a statement condemning the alleged threats and appearing to praise child sex change procedures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChildren deserve an opportunity to thrive and grow as their own authentic selves. Parents\/guardians and health care providers who support them in that journey should be allowed to do so free of threats and harassment,\u201d the statement from Massachusetts U.S. Attorney Rachael S. Rollins read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile free speech is indeed the cornerstone of our great nation, fear, intimidation and threats are not. I will not sit idly by and allow hate-based criminal activity to continue in our District,\u201d it concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Rollins condemned the threats, which she called \u201cdisturbing,\u201d and pointed to a prior statement from Attorney General Merrick Garland pledging his commitment to combating hate crimes. She said she had created a unit specifically for investigating and prosecuting civil rights violations and that the DOJ would ensure transgender people received equal protection under the law.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"zxx\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Sx3ATUDxSL\">pic.twitter.com\/Sx3ATUDxSL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Boston Children\u2019s (@BostonChildrens) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BostonChildrens\/status\/1559646594991116289?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 16, 2022<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Twitter users shared videos of BCU staff promoting <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/11\/tavistock-gids-transgender-clinic-sex-change-children-adolescents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">puberty blockers<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/17\/terrorism-trans-activists-censorship-sex-changes-libs-of-tiktok\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">children<\/a>, mastectomies for girls as young as 15 and various genital surgeries the hospital offers, most of which have since been removed from YouTube. They also drew attention to BCU guidance which said the hospital offered vaginoplasty at as young as 17 and didn\u2019t list a minimum age requirement for \u201cgender-affirming\u201d hysterectomies; those guidance pages have since been updated following public backlash with age requirements set at 18, although the minimum age for mastectomies is still 15.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/tech\/internet\/boston-childrens-hospital-warns-employees-far-right-online-harassment-rcna43376\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Several<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2022\/08\/17\/metro\/right-wing-groups-hit-boston-childrens-with-barrage-threats-over-trans-health-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">media<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en\/article\/epzv9a\/libsoftiktok-trans-children-boston-hospital\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">outlets<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbur.org\/news\/2022\/08\/16\/boston-childrens-hospital-harassment-transgender-surgery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">drew<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/health\/boston-childrens-hospital-receiving-violent-threats-over-misinformation-about-trans-healthcare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">attention<\/a> to the subsequent backlash over sex change surgeries being performed on minors, which reportedly included a deluge of harassment and threats against hospital staff. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/18\/doctors-performing-sex-change-surgeries-children-minors-transgender-boston-childrens-hospital\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Yes, Doctors Are Performing Sex Change Surgeries On Kids)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The DOJ and BCU did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
