A Reuters spokesperson confirmed the outlet published no such story.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Deputy White House Press Secretary Andrew Bates drew criticism for a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AndrewJBates46\/status\/1556451566957346816?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1556503978547916800%7Ctwgr%5Ede70abe12bf57c21b50057e256a775f35120e90a%7Ctwcon%5Es3_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailydot.com%2Fdebug%2Fdark-brandon-meme-chinese-nazi-origins%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">meme<\/a> he tweeted that allegedly featured a depiction of the Nazi eagle pin and promoted Chinese propaganda, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/dark-brandon-memes-white-house-staffer-provoke-nazi-china-claims-1731961\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Newsweek<\/a>. No such headline or article could be found on any of Reuters\u2019\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=White%20House%20Nazi%20Image%20(from%3AReuters)&amp;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile\/100059422245844\/search\/?q=fact-check\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">media<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reuters\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">accounts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReuters did not publish a fact check regarding a tweet by White House employee Andrew Bates and the alleged use of Nazi symbolism,\u201d a Reuters spokesperson told Check Your Fact in an email. \u201cHeadlines about the tweet that were attributed to Reuters Fact Check in some social media posts were fabricated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time Reuters had been the subject of misinformation on social media.
