The original video does not show anyone heckling Johnson.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Johnson resigned as Conservative Party leader on July 7 following \u201cmonths of ethics scandals and a party revolt,\u201d but will stay on as prime minister until the party chooses a new leader, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Business\/wireStory\/uk-boris-johnson-quits-86365627\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ABC News<\/a>. The new prime minister will be announced by Sept. 5, following the final vote by Conservative Party members, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/ng-interactive\/2022\/jul\/18\/tory-leadership-election-full-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Guardian<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>An image shared on Facebook claims Johnson was recently heckled while vacationing in Greece. It shows a screenshot of a tweet with pictures of Johnson in a supermarket. \u201cHearing that Johnson is getting booed and heckled by British holidaymakers on his Greek trip has cheered me up no end,\u201d reads the tweet\u2019s caption. \u201cIt will not get shown in the UK of course but Italian TV just now had a British man shouting, \u2018Get back to work you fat ponce.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, there is no evidence such an incident occurred. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found the images shared in the tweet are from a video that was posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=731obOKdTr4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube<\/a> in August. While the full video features a woman filming Johnson, she does not heckle him. The Independent <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/boris-johnson-shops-greek-supermarket-092648403.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> on Johnson\u2019s appearance in the country but makes no mention of any heckling incident. In addition, a <a href=\"https:\/\/greekcitytimes.com\/2022\/08\/14\/boris-johnson-supermarket\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Greek City Times<\/a> article about the video makes no mention of the purported situation.<\/p>\n<p>BBC News reporter Shayan Sardarizadeh <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Shayan86\/status\/1559219160386834433\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">called<\/a> the claim \u201cbogus\u201d on Twitter.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A completely bogus claim about Boris Johnson with 10,000 retweets and 48,000 likes. The video of the incident can be easily found on YouTube, and features no British man shouting at Mr Johnson,\u201d Sardarizadeh <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Shayan86\/status\/1559219160386834433\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The original claim likely came from a Twitter account that has been known to spread false information in the past, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/fullfact.org\/online\/Boris-Johnson-heckle-tweet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Full Fact<\/a>.
