Vance, the Trump-backed Republican nominee for Ohio\u2019s open U.S. Senate seat, and Republicans had overtaken Democrats in the Buckeye State.<\/p>\n<p>Vance <a href=\"https:\/\/emersoncollegepolling.com\/ohio-2022-jd-vance-leads-tim-ryan-in-competitive-bid-for-us-senate-gov-dewine-holds-16-point-lead-over-democratic-challenger\/\">leads<\/a> Ryan by three points in the most recent Emerson College poll.\u00a0The poll found that 45 percent of the 925\u00a0general election voters would vote for\u00a0Vance over the 42 percent who would vote for Ryan. There were also four percent who said someone else, and ten percent were\u00a0undecided.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In fact, when the voters were asked, \u201cregardless of whom they support, which candidate they expect to win,\u201d a majority of the respondents (52 percent) said Vance would win, compared to the 48 percent who said Ryan.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Executive Director of Emerson College polling\u00a0Spencer Kimball said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Both Vance and Ryan have strong bases of support, and the race tightens to a one-point lead for Vance among the very motivated and very likely voters in Ohio. There was also eight percent\u00a0undecided.<\/p>\n<p>In \u00a0Ohio, President Joe Biden has an approval rating of only 39 percent and a 56 percent\u00a0disapproval.<\/p>\n<p>In a hypothetical 2024 poll between Biden and former President Donald Trump, the former president leads with a majority of the vote with 53 percent compared to the 39 percent who would vote for Biden.<\/p>\n<p>This comes after the\u00a0recent FBI search of Mar-a-Lago, which showed that 39 percent of\u00a0Ohio voters are \u201cmore likely\u201d to support Trump if he runs for president in 2024. This is compared to only 35 percent who said the raid made them\u00a0\u201cless likely\u201d to support Trump and the 27 percent who said the raid \u201cmakes no difference\u201d in who they would vote for.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Emerson College poll was conducted from August 15 to 16 and asked\u00a0925\u00a0somewhat and very likely general election voters.
