Diversity, equity, and inclusion are making a comeback this school year, so you would be wrong for those hoping it was just a fad or a phase.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">My home state of Minnesota has been a hub for bizarre antics over the last two years, spurred by the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. On the other hand, North Dakota generally flew under the radar as the Dakota that wasn\u2019t South Dakota.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">But thanks to DEI nonsense, the \u2018other\u2019 Dakota is on the progressive map of ridiculousness; congratulations, North Dakota! So let\u2019s look at what these states have done.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A Racist Agreement<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Last spring, the first teachers\u2019 strike in 50 years kicked off in Minneapolis for two weeks. The <a href=\"https:\/\/minnesotareformer.com\/2022\/04\/01\/minneapolis-teacher-strike-is-part-of-a-wider-labor-struggle-for-educators-around-the-country\/#:~:text=These%20professionals%20and%20the%20teachers,workforce%20diversity%20and%20higher%20wages.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">teachers\u2019 demands<\/a> were smaller class sizes, better benefits, more student mental health resources, increased workforce diversity, and higher wages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In an attempt to assuage the situation, an agreement was reached between the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers Union and the school district. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/minneapolis-teachers-union-agreement-stipulates-white-teachers-laid-off-first-regardless-seniority\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This agreement states<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cIf excessing a teacher who is a member of a population underrepresented among licensed teachers in the site, the district shall excess the next least senior teacher, who is not a member of an underrepresented population.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">First, let\u2019s clear up a vocabulary word jammed into this agreement. To excess a teacher is essentially to lay off or fire. So now that we\u2019ve cleared that up, what does this all mean?<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Minneapolis teachers union has negotiated a contract in which the district will fire white teachers first. Gosh, you know what that sounds like? Racism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">To add to the craziness on the flip side, if the district can bring teachers back that they have \u2018excessed,\u2019 those teachers of color should be considered over white teachers. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&#038;rct=j&#038;q=&#038;esrc=s&#038;source=web&#038;cd=&#038;ved=2ahUKEwiHk7bWw8v5AhVFtoQIHRbdDckQFnoECAkQAQ&#038;url=https%3A%2F%2Ffreebeacon.com%2Flatest-news%2Fminnesota-public-schools-changes-rules-to-lay-off-white-teachers-before-minority-teachers%2F&#038;usg=AOvVaw0oUbx225FbjCLhVdUR4k5_\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">agreement says<\/a> in part:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe district shall prioritize the recall of a teacher who is a member of a population underrepresented among licensed teachers in the district.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So, why on earth would this agreement be made? The justification will blow your mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/largest-teachers-union-promotes-national-anthem-kneeling-book-other-diversity-selections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Largest Teachers Union Promotes National Anthem-Kneeling Book, Other \u2018Diversity\u2019 Selections<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Fighting Racism With\u2026 Racism?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">To justify this ridiculous agreement, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/minneapolis-teachers-union-agreement-stipulates-white-teachers-laid-off-first-regardless-seniority\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the union and the district<\/a> say it is to solve for \u201cpast discrimination.\u201d The argument is that the usual determination that follows a last-in, first-out concept disproportionately affects teachers of color over white teachers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Have they considered a third alternative \u2013 firing based on teacher <em>performance?\u00a0<\/em>Ridiculous, I know, expecting public employees to be held accountable.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">They won&#8217;t have to when new White teachers decide to pick a new State to live in, creating a shortage of teachers in Minneapolis. We call this an &#8220;unintended consequence&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Unpopular Movie Reviews (@TSowellDisciple) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TSowellDisciple\/status\/1559211984482013184?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 15, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So basically, the argument is that most tenured teachers are white, and most of the newer teachers who would typically be at risk of \u2018excessing\u2019 if called for are teachers of color. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/minneapolis-teachers-union-agreement-stipulates-white-teachers-laid-off-first-regardless-seniority\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">union agreement<\/a> goes on to add that:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cStudents need educators who look like them and who they can relate to.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">However, based on data from US News, I would argue students need educators who actually educate and that the color of their skin shouldn\u2019t be an issue. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/15\/minneapolis-schools-fire-white-teachers-first-union\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to US News,<\/a> the graduation rate among Minneapolis public school students is a meager 53%.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Again, the public education system, which includes these unions, doesn\u2019t seem to understand that their priority should be educating America\u2019s children. That playing race games and backing ideologies don\u2019t do anything to elevate the next generation\u2019s education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So much for equality and fairness, I suppose. Usually, you\u2019d see this in places like California, New York, and Oregon\u2026 but North Dakota?!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The argument for this vote will make you fall out of your chair. The board vice president <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/north-dakota-parents-furious-school-board-nixes-pledge-allegiance-bunch-crap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seth Holden<\/a> argued:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cGiven that the word \u2018God\u2019 in the text of the Pledge of Allegiance is capitalized\u2026the text is clearly referring to the Judeo-Christian God, and therefore, it does not include any other faiths such as Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>First off, Jews, Christians, and Muslims believe in the same God, the God of Abraham. Amazing that a board of education chairman is unaware of this.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He goes on to say that reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in and of itself is a \u201cnon-inclusionary act.\u201d It sounds like a setup to spread this elimination to the schools in the district and not just at the board meetings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/08\/11\/fargo-school-board-drops-pledge-of-allegiance-over-under-god-phrase\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mr. Holden said,<\/a> in general, he isn\u2019t against the Pledge itself. Still, it can\u2019t be said in a school committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. There\u2019s that DEI again, creeping across the border into Fargo from Minneapolis.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">JUST IN: The Fargo School Board will hold a special meeting on Thursday to consider reinstating the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of board meetings. Memo cites &#8220;significant negative local and national feedback.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jim Monk (@JimKVRR) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JimKVRR\/status\/1559535266595061762?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 16, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A Shared Purpose<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Now according to Mr. Holden, the Pledge itself is inaccurate. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/patriotism-unity\/fargo-school-board-bans-the-pledge-of-allegiance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">He states<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe statement that we are \u2018one nation under God,\u2019 is the Judeo-Christian God\u2026is simply an untrue statement. We are one nation under many or no gods.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">You read that right, under many or no gods. But it gets worse, way worse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-11103687\/ND-school-board-axes-Pledge-Allegiance-God-doesnt-include-faiths.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School Board President Tracie Newman<\/a> supported her vice president in a mealy-mouthed sort of way, stating:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cI\u2019m just not sure that reciting the Pledge of Allegiance is a useful way to begin every one of our board meetings. I would much prefer that we open our meetings with a shared statement of purpose that would bring us together to do the work of the board.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">I happen to know of a shared statement of purpose that would be perfect to bring a group of Americans together to do good work for a community. It\u2019s called the Pledge of Allegiance. They want you to believe it\u2019s an evolution towards diversity, equity, and inclusion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In reality, none of these actions have anything to do with diversity, equity, or inclusion. Instead, these sorts of policies and actions seek to divide us more into our separate camps based on arbitrary traits such as race.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">These actions are meant to hurt one group in the name of \u2018righting injustices\u2019 and \u2018equity\u2019 and exclude others based on the same arbitrary traits like race that we have worked so hard to overcome. The Minneapolis union agreement, as Upper Midwest Law Center senior trial counsel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2022\/aug\/15\/union-contract-protects-educators-color-if-layoffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">James Dickey<\/a> states:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201c\u2026openly discriminates against white teachers based only on the color of their skin\u2026\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">You don\u2019t fight racism with racism, and you don\u2019t create inclusion by trying to erase the things that bring us together as a country.
