And on Tuesday morning,<em> CBS Mornings<\/em> continued to fearmonger itself silly over the Supreme Court\u2019s overturn of <em>Roe<\/em> <em>v. Wade, <\/em>this time claiming that in some states it is now more difficult to treat ectopic pregnancies and other, <em>non-pregnancy-related<\/em> diseases.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cculprits\u201d are right-to-life Americans who stand against on-demand abortion; in many cases <em><a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/sister-toldjah\/2022\/05\/19\/gop-lawmaker-stuns-dem-hearing-witness-in-revealing-exchange-on-abortion-until-birth-argument-n566817\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">until birth<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/alex-christy\/2022\/08\/16\/cbs-warns-pro-lifers-are-making-it-difficult-treat-diseases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> by NewsBusters, <em>CBS Mornings<\/em> host Nate Burleson kicked off the festivities by \u201creporting\u201d that \u201cthe fight over limits on abortion is spreading to some unexpected places including drug stores,\u201d continuing:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>At least one medication commonly prescribed for arthritis, lupus, and even cancer is becoming harder to get after the Supreme Court allowed states to restrict or outlaw abortions. [CBS News correspondent] Janet Shamlian has a story of patients who are caught in the middle and dreading the possible impact on their health.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Shamlian went straight for the fearmongering heartstrings, laying out the plight of 10-year-old Noraa [sic] Wise, who \u201chas been living with a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflation in her bones.\u201d After several attempts to treat the serious disease, Shamlian said, \u201clife changed, her mom says, after Noraa\u2019s doctor prescribed methotrexate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As described by WebMD, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/drugs\/2\/drug-3441\/methotrexate-anti-rheumatic-oral\/details\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">methotrexate<\/a> is:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n[U]sed to treat certain types of cancer (such as acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and non-Hodgkin\u2019s lymphoma) or to control severe psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis that has not responded to other treatments. It may also be used to control juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. \u2026 It works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells and suppressing the immune system. Early treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with more aggressive therapy such as methotrexate helps to reduce further joint damage and to preserve joint function.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Shamlian described the drug<em> this way:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s commonly used to treat rheumatoid\u00a0arthritis and some cancers but\u00a0can also be used to terminate\u00a0non-viable ectopic pregnancies where a fertilized egg grows outside the womb. Since the Supreme Court decision that overturned\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade, <\/em>some women report trouble getting the medication by pharmacists concerned they could be held responsible for aiding an abortion.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>You see where this is headed, right?<\/p>\n<p>Shamlian then introduced the case of Annie England Noblin, a longtime user of methotrexate for rheumatoid arthritis, who told the CBS correspondent her pharmacy recently put her refill on hold. Noblin explained, in a video clip:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>They needed to make sure my rheumatologist actually\u00a0prescribed me methotrexate for\u00a0my RA and not so that I could, you know,\u00a0abort a fetus.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bingo. Exactly what I was thinking before I read the above quote. I\u2019m not a doctor or a pharmacist, but it doesn\u2019t take a Mensa member to quickly figure out who prescribed the medication and for what reason \u2014 in <em>any case<\/em> involving methotrexate.<\/p>\n<p>After making it a point to say Noblin \u201clives in Missouri, a state banning almost all abortions,\u201d Shamlian continued to her exploitation, which was readily resolved when Noblin\u2019s rheumatologist verified her prescription, asking,\u00a0\u201cWhen you heard that [the refill was on hold], what did you think?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Noblin was ready with the \u201ccorrect\u201d answer:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It was immediate anger. I was embarrassed because I was in a pharmacy line and I\u2014I\u2014 said, \u2018Okay, do you also need to know the first date of my last period as well?\u2019<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Nonsense. Moreover, who among us has not been required to have a prescription verified?<\/p>\n<p>Shamlian then trotted out an OB\/GYN, \u201cpracticing in Texas, another state where most abortions are illegal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a common thing we deal with,\u201d said Dr. John Thoppil, who Shamlian said has \u201cprescribed methotrexate about ten times over the last year to end non-viable pregnancies and is concerned about potential delays in patients getting it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ooh, catch that? We just moved from a rare autoimmune disease and rheumatoid arthritis to aborting \u201cnon-viable\u201d pregnancies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre there other medications that can do what this drug does?\u201d Shamlian asked, obviously aware of the answer she \u2014 and the CBS New audience \u2014 were about to hear. Here\u2019s Thoppil:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Unfortunately for an ectopic\u00a0pregnancy, no.\u00a0So, you know, if this is delayed, there is a\u00a0timeline that this works, the pregnancy gets too far along, the only thing left is surgery.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Finally, Shamlian pathetically poured it on, returning her exploitation of the 10-year-old girl: \u201cFor Noraa Wise, the medication is a game changer she wants to keep taking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Said young Noraa: \u201cI know the medicine works. I don\u2019t have any more pain. It\u2019s just, I hope that I\u2019ll have my medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Translation: Noraa is taking the drug and is pain-free. Hence this is a non-issue for her.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The bottom line:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Again, I\u2019m neither a doctor nor a pharmacist, but I have taken several prescriptions through the years, sometimes needing verification from my doc that a particular med was prescribed for a particular situation, most recently a heavy-duty opiate when I suffered vertebrae compression fractures in my lower back.<\/p>\n<p>CBS News and many in the lapdog liberal media \u2014 along with the Democrat Party and other abortion activists \u2014 continue to exploit and lie about the overturn of <em>Roe<\/em> and everything they can remotely \u2014and falsely \u2014 claim the overturn impacts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s not been a good week for the legacy news media, America \u2014 and it\u2019s only Tuesday.
