We don\u2019t usually change the schedule for an external event,\u201d said the\u00a0executive director of the NBA\u2019s social justice coalition,\u00a0James Cadogan.\u00a0\u201cBut voting and Election Day are obviously unique and incredibly important to our democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Component-root-0-2-75 Component-p-0-2-66\">Having teams help promote civic engagement by not playing on election night is a rare move by the league. Typically, the NBA will not play games on significant events such as\u00a0Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. In addition to trying not to schedule\u00a0games on the day of the NCAA men\u2019s basketball championship game.
