Fallon\/AFP via Getty Images) <\/p>\n<p>Murkowski took office in 2002 when her father, Frank Murkowski, appointed her to his own U.S. Senate seat, which he vacated upon being elected Alaska\u2019s governor.<\/p>\n<p>She is the second most senior female in the Senate after Sen.
