The judge will opine whether the Department of Justice (DOJ) must unseal the search warrant materials, which likely include the search warrant affidavit. The DOJ is expected to argue to keep the document sealed, the New York Post <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/08\/16\/judge-sets-hearing-on-unsealing-key-trump-mar-a-lago-search-document\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/16\/john-bolton-merrick-garland-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Garland Is A \u2018Lamb\u2019 About To Be \u2018Slaughtered\u2019 By Trump, John Bolton Says)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The DOJ adamantly opposes the release of the search warrant affidavit, which would include testimony from federal agents justifying the raid and information about witnesses. Assistant U.S. Attorney Juan Antonio Gonzalez <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.flsd.617854\/gov.uscourts.flsd.617854.59.0_12.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">argued<\/a> making the affidavit public would risk \u201cthe integrity of an ongoing law enforcement investigation that implicates national security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe affidavit would serve as a roadmap to the government\u2019s ongoing investigation, providing specific details about its direction and likely course, in a manner that is highly likely to compromise future investigative steps. In addition, information about witnesses is particularly sensitive given the high-profile nature of this matter and the risk that the revelation of witness identities would impact their willingness to cooperate with the investigation,\u201d Gonzalez wrote.<\/p>\n<div id=\"rev-more-content\">\n<p>Attorney General Merrick Garland, who personally approved the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/16\/espionage-act-donald-trump-alan-dershowitz-mar-a-lago-fbi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">raid<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/11\/merrick-garland-donald-trump-fbi-raid-mar-a-lago-unseal-search-warrant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> at a press conference recently that FBI agents could be subject to increased threats as a result of the search.<\/p>\n<p>A bipartisan group of lawmakers has requested the DOJ provide updates detailing the process of the search, which documents the FBI found, and how their release would impact national security.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/09\/judge-bruce-reinhart-trump-fbi-jeffrey-epstein-mar-a-lago-raid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reinhart signed<\/a> off on the search warrant that allowed the FBI to raid Mar-a-Lago. Reinhart, however, has ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/local\/article264444421.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Miami Herald<\/a> reported. Reinhart quit his job as a U.S. attorney in 2008 and went to work for Epstein, according to the report.
