That\u2019s the president. The president is not just the head of the executive branch. He is the executive branch. There are all manner of forms and protocols and procedure worksheets that one should follow so it\u2019s done in an orderly matter so people know what\u2019s classified and declassified. But if we\u2019re talking about just the law and constitutionally, the president has the power.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/09\/scott-jennings-mar-a-lago-raid-cnn\/\">(RELATED: \u2018You Have Martyred Donald Trump\u2019: CNN Guest Rips Raid)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Agents from the FBI <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/08\/donald-trump-statement-fbi-raid-mar-a-lago-florida\/\">executed<\/a> a search warrant at the Florida estate owned by Trump on Aug. 8 as part of a probe into allegations that classified material had reportedly been taken when the former president left office in January 2021. Trump, however, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/12\/trump-materials-fbi-seized-declassified-secured-storage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">claimed<\/a> the documents were already declassified.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt cannot be \u2014 no pun intended \u2014 it cannot be trumped because one of the agencies in the executive branch has come up with a worksheet that wasn\u2019t filled out,\u201d Honig continued. \u201cSo, we do need to keep that in mind. The law allows very broad \u2014 perhaps even broader than we like \u2014 but the reality is very broad declassification authority.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"rev-more-content\">\n<p>\u201cWhile Trump could have declassified whatever he liked while president, his apparent inability to produce any credible evidence that he actually did so is a genuine problem\u2014particularly against the backdrop of an incumbent president who clearly sees the documents as still classified,\u201d Scott R.
