The gunmen claimed to be part of a self-defense movement made up of townspeople.<\/p>\n<p>The raid took place this week in Uruapan, Michoacan, where state police with the Mexican Army and National Guard targeted properties used for operations by the Carteles Unidos. According to Michoacan state authorities, the raid was the result of several weeks of joint intelligence gathering.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/08\/Michoacan-Raid-3.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Authorities arrested 164 gunmen, seized 142 rifles, 44 handguns, and 28 vehicles with at least one showing armor improvements. By Sunday morning, the gunmen were taken to the state capital and are expected to go before a federal judge for their initial detention hearing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Michoacan-Raid-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21829146\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Michoacan-Raid-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Carteles Unidos is made up of smaller <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/border\/2021\/06\/18\/graphic-cartels-forge-new-alliance-for-control-of-western-mexico\/\">joined forces to fight against Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG).<\/a> The fighting is considered some of the most violent in Mexico.
