Greg Abbott and state legislators.<\/p>\n<p>A further 12 percent said they believe higher costs are down to Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>The survey\u00a0of 1,384 registered Texas voters (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uttyler.edu\/politicalscience\/files\/dmn-uttyler-aug2022.pdf\">pdf<\/a>) was conducted between\u00a0Aug. 1 and 7 and the margin of error for a sample of 972 registered voters in Texas is +\/- 2.6 percentage points, while the more conservative margin of sampling error that includes design effects from the poll is +\/- 2.8 percentage points for a 95 percent confidence interval.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration has consistently blamed ongoing supply issues prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic, labor shortages, and Russian President\u00a0Vladimir Putin\u2019s \u201cspecial military operation\u201d in neighboring Ukraine for a surge in prices, dubbing the latter \u201cPutin\u2019s price hikes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, prices began rising long before the invasion of Ukraine, rising\u00a0by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/fact-check-joe-bidens-putin-price-hike-inflation-claim-accurate-1715647\">2.5 percent<\/a> between September 2021 and February 2022.<\/p>\n<p>In an effort to bring inflation down, the Federal Reserve has increased its policy rate from\u00a0almost zero to 2.5 percent since March.
