Version: 4.0.47--><p>Following years of bureaucratic malfeasance in the name of science, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its Covid guidelines on Thursday to now recommend and acknowledge long overdue truths regarding transmission of the respiratory virus and Covid vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>Among the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/media\/releases\/2022\/p0811-covid-guidance.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new provisions<\/a> included in the guidelines are recommendations to largely end mass asymptomatic testing of individuals with no known exposure to the virus, as well as calls for those \u201cexposed to COVID-19\u201d to wear a \u201cmask for 10 days and get tested on day 5\u201d rather than quarantine. <\/p>\n<p>Most noteworthy in the CDC\u2019s new guidelines, however, is the tacit admission by the agency that any individual, regardless of vaccination status, can still get and spread Covid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReiterating that regardless of vaccination status, you should isolate from others when you have COVID-19,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/media\/releases\/2022\/p0811-covid-guidance.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">guidelines<\/a> read. \u201cYou should also isolate if you are sick and suspect that you have COVID-19 but do not yet have test results.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>In other words, the health agency has essentially deemed all Covid testing and quarantine rules to be the same for both the vaccinated and unvaccinated.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, an epidemiologist and professor at Stanford\u2019s School of Medicine, took to Twitter to respond to the CDC\u2019s new guidelines, saying that the ending of \u201cmass asymptomatic testing is a big deal, though it comes a full 2 years too late.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf your child is going on a field trip and has no symptoms and is forced to test, make sure to let the authorities know that they are violating CDC guidelines,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Bhattacharya and fellow epidemiologists and medical professors Dr. Martin Kulldorff and Dr. Sunetra Gupta, who were all smeared as science deniers and purveyors of disinformation, are most notable for authoring <a href=\"https:\/\/gbdeclaration.org\/#read\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Great Barrington Declaration<\/a>, a document co-signed by dozens of medical professionals in 2020 that called for an end to the Covid lockdowns that produced \u201cdevastating effects on short and long-term public health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe results [of the lockdowns] (to name a few) include lower childhood vaccination rates, worsening cardiovascular disease outcomes, fewer cancer screenings and deteriorating mental health \u2014 leading to greater excess mortality in years to come, with the working class and younger members of society carrying the heaviest burden,\u201d stated the Declaration, which has been vindicated. \u201cThe most compassionate approach that balances the risks and benefits of reaching herd immunity, is to allow those who are at minimal risk of death to live their lives normally to build up immunity to the virus through natural infection, while better protecting those who are at highest risk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The sudden about-face from the CDC, which for two years has relentlessly pushed mass testing, lockdowns, and vaccines as solutions to ending the pandemic, comes on the heels of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/dr-deborah-birx-knew-covid-vaccines-not-protect-against-infection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recent comments<\/a> by former White House Covid Response Coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx, who during an interview on Fox News admitted that she \u201cknew\u201d earlier in the pandemic that the jabs \u201cwere not going to protect against infection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we overplayed\u00a0the vaccines, and it made people then worry that it\u2019s not going to protect against severe disease and hospitalization,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<h2>Defund the CDC<\/h2>\n<p>The outright lie that the jabs were guaranteed to prevent people from getting infected with Covid was not just pushed by high-ranking CDC officials such as Director Rochelle Walensky as a means to encourage more Americans to get vaccinated. It was also used as justification by President Joe Biden to orchestrate a massive power grab by the federal government. Despite knowing as early as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/70\/wr\/mm7021e3.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">April 2021<\/a> that the shots didn\u2019t stop Covid transmission, Biden wildly overstepped his authority in September 2021 by unconstitutionally mandating \u201cprivate businesses with 100 workers or more\u201d to force their employees to get the Covid jab or face a fine of \u201c$14,000 per violation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The order also extended to all federal workers, as well as \u201cemployees of federal contractors, and Americans employed by a health-care facility receiving Medicare or Medicaid funding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the U.S. Supreme Court ultimately <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/supreme-court-biden-covid-vax-mandate-defeat-liberals-fury\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">struck down<\/a> Biden\u2019s illegal edict, the point remains: Up until this past Thursday, the CDC and the federal government have falsely maintained that the transmissibility of Covid was different for the vaccinated and unvaccinated.<\/p>\n<p>With such illogical rationale being used by <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/08\/05\/netflix-to-require-all-employees-visitors-to-be-vaccinated\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">businesses<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Health\/wireStory\/los-angeles-school-board-vote-student-vaccine-mandate-79917737\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">school districts<\/a> throughout the country to force Covid vaccines on millions of Americans, it raises the question as to how many citizens lost their jobs and livelihoods as a result of this fictitious \u201cscience\u201d? Moreover, how many of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/pentagon-congress\/2022\/04\/27\/the-vast-majority-of-troops-kicked-out-for-covid-vaccine-refusal-received-general-discharges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">approximately 3,400<\/a> U.S. servicemen and women discharged from the military for refusing the jab will be given an apology and have their positions restored given the CDC\u2019s \u201cnewly discovered\u201d science?<\/p>\n<p>Given what the CDC has put the country through the past two years with its faulty policies and lack of transparency regarding the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/09\/fda-pushes-to-authorize-novavaxs-covid-19-vaccine-despite-serious-cardiovascular-safety-issues\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">potential risks associated with the jabs<\/a>, the agency should not only be publicly shamed for its conduct; it should be defunded and disbanded. Much like the corruption that has plagued agencies like the FBI, which has <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/09\/we-have-no-reason-to-trust-the-fbi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">repeatedly abused its power<\/a> to target political opponents, the CDC has shown itself to be a highly inept organization incapable of providing accurate information to the public and keeping politics out of its decision-making processes.<\/p>\n<p>Whether it\u2019s lying to the public about the efficacy of <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/11\/12\/cdc-admits-it-has-no-evidence-of-recovered-covid-patients-spreading-the-virus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">natural immunity<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/01\/17\/cdc-finally-admits-cloth-masks-were-always-political-theater\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cloth masks<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/05\/01\/teachers-union-collaborated-with-cdc-on-school-reopening-emails\/?fbclid=IwAR3CyGItMm7WkbTR8WrADjom6MFj0UVvIKNRMUaESF5BGikHFEfoIqTAjNA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bowing to the demands<\/a> of the teachers\u2019 unions on reopening schools, or <a href=\"https:\/\/eppc.org\/publication\/cdc-tells-new-york-times-it-hid-covid-data-for-political-reasons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">willfully concealing data<\/a> from the American public, the CDC has given the country plenty of reasons for why it should be legislatively shattered into a thousand pieces.<\/p>\n<p>Restoring trust in our institutions begins with accountability, and it\u2019s about time the CDC gets its first dose of it.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Shawn Fleetwood is an intern at The Federalist and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
